00:00Welcome to the 10th edition of the Tour de France JCOM Saitama Criterium in Japan.
00:20People of Japan don't get to see the riders of the Tour de France close.
00:24To be here, to be racing in front of everybody, to see the crowds that come out,
00:28the love of cycling here, it's pretty special. I always come with my wife, Peter, to enjoy some time here.
00:43You look like you have this technique mastered.
00:48While I'm throwing it looks like that, but probably if they would throw, it would be the last thrower for me.
00:59After Aikido and music, it was time for the family ride.
01:05Marcel Kittel, the ambassador of the Saitama Criterium alongside the mayor.
01:10A chance for everyone to ride the course.
01:13We'll be at a little rain soak this time.
01:16It wouldn't be this Criterium without the devil, but the stars are here.
01:28Ahead for the riders, 17 laps of 3.6 kilometers, a total distance 61.2 kilometers this time.
01:50A slight difference in the Super Arena, but that's about it.
01:58The flag dropped after the neutralized section.
02:04All the classifications as usual, including the sprints and the King of the Mountains.
02:11Jasper Philipsen looking good in sprint number one.
02:15Aerotrain fans lining the routes, looking out for Biniam Gemay in the green jersey.
02:27Sprint number two.
02:29Philipsen ahead of Cavendish again.
02:35Gemay sneaks in in second place.
02:3935 kilometers of racing to go and ticking down through the kilometers quickly.
02:46The rain pouring on the backs of the riders.
02:49Terrible weather conditions to race in.
02:52Sprint number three.
02:54Close contest.
02:57Cavendish in the green jersey.
02:59Head of Gemay and Philipsen.
03:05But the rain not dampening the enthusiasm of the spectators.
03:09Chris Froome trying to go away.
03:14Sprint number four.
03:16Gemay and Philipsen again neck and neck with Cavendish.
03:19Into the closing stages.
03:21The breakaway group, Arashiro, Roglic and Bardet.
03:26And the bell lap with Primoz Roglic going clear on his own.
03:32And the start of the second leg.
03:34The race is on.
03:36The race is on.
03:38The race is on.
03:40The race is on.
03:42The race is on.
03:44The race is on.

04:13Gemay with his signature salute.
04:19I can imagine, to be honest, in the beginning of the season,
04:23I didn't expect to be like now, you know.
04:27But yeah, especially in July, out there in France,
04:31it was unbelievable, you know, to win three stages
04:34and to have the green jersey, it's super nice.
04:37And again now, like first time in Asia, first time in Japan.
04:42And to start with this beautiful victory,
04:46it's really nice, you know, I'm super happy.
