Meet DJ AG: The TikTok DJ turning London’s streets into a viral stage for up-and-coming artists

DJ AG, aka Ashley Gordon, has captured millions on TikTok with his outdoor DJ sets, inviting passersbyers and grassroots artists to perform live. From Skepta to kids with their grandmas, everyone’s welcome to join the livestream party.

00:00So my name is DJ AG, I am from North London, Tottenham, and for me it's about bringing

00:27community together, it's all about that interaction, and playing music and making people happy,

00:32nice and simple.

00:33I was on TikTok for a year, and I got a bit bored, I noticed a guy called Suat who was

00:40on YouTube, he's a walking DJ, doing it outside, catching a vibe, big energy, and I thought

00:45you know what, I could probably do the same, but do it my own way.

00:51Suat had the big iconic moments with JME, Skepta, Lethal B, Chip-on, Frisco, it's been

01:01actually amazing.

01:02But all the way through to just meeting everyday people, children, you know, giving them sweets.

01:07Wow, that looks absolutely amazing, can I see, can I show everyone, oh my, look at that!

01:16All the way through to Granny, so we're going through generations, so Brixton Granny, dancing,

01:21catching a vibe, and yeah man, there's been loads of great moments.

01:36I think promoting yourself as an artist in 2024 is so difficult, to the point where I

01:43think it can actually overtake the whole purpose of the thing, which is music.

01:51I think it's amazing because DJ AG is about community, and you can tell that he's doing

01:59something that he's passionate about, and I actually feel like he's bringing back what

02:03Cyphers were, like just on the road, no one was planning things, you just pulled up, done

02:07your thing, and I feel like he's created a nice space for us to be able to do that again.

02:21I'm hoping to achieve, just bringing positivity to our communities, spreading that love through

02:26music and interaction, but also helping emerging talent, and there's so many talented artists

02:31around there, it'd be great to be able to help them and support them along their journey.
