Swedish Prime Minister meets with Danish counterpart to discuss ways to tackle gang crime

Sweden has seen a surge in shootings and bombings committed by gangs over the last year, which has spilled over the border into Denmark and Norway.

00:24Officials say many of these Swedish gangs recruit teenagers from disadvantaged immigrant

00:28neighbourhoods.

00:29There is unfortunately a very close connection between foreign policy and crime today, because

00:35when we look at organized crime, when we look at violence, when we look at narco, then there

00:41is an overrepresentation in Denmark and Sweden, especially with young men with non-Western

00:48backgrounds, and that is unbearable.

00:51In August this year, Denmark announced it was tightening its border controls with Sweden

00:56to combat the threat from gangs, while cross-border crime between the two nations has also led

01:02to Danish police working in Sweden and vice versa.
