01:37These strikes often kill women and children.

02:26and allegations of a smear campaign.

02:32European electoral observers said the election took place in a divisive environment marked

02:36by intimidation and incidents of vote-buying, double-voting and physical violence.

02:46The centre-right GERB party of former Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov is the likely

02:52winner of Bulgaria's parliamentary elections, according to exit polls.

02:57Initial results are expected Monday, but it could take days before final official results

03:02are announced.

03:03If these results confirm the exit poll, Borisov will be handed a mandate to form his fourth

03:08cabinet.

03:09It appears, however, that it will be an uphill task for him to find allies to form a governing

03:13coalition in a fragmented parliament.

03:16Voter fatigue and disillusionment with politicians has created an environment where radical political

03:21voices, aided by widespread Russian disinformation, are successfully undermining public support

03:27for the democratic process and boosting the popularity of pro-Russian and far-right groups.

03:32There was no clear winner in the latest vote held in June, and the seven groups elected

03:36to the fragmented legislature were unable to put together a viable coalition.

03:43The leader of the Social Democratic Party announced that her party is leading in the

03:51polls for Lithuania's second and final round of parliamentary elections.

03:57Voters headed to the ballots as strict COVID-19 measures during the pandemic, political scandals

04:02and an influx of migrants from neighbouring Belarus hurt the popularity of the current

04:06Prime Minister's government.

04:10The vote in Lithuania, which borders Russia to the west and Belarus to the east, comes

04:14at a time when Russia's military campaign in Ukraine is fuelling greater concerns about

04:19Moscow's intentions, particularly in the strategically important Baltic region.

04:25It will set the political tone for the next four years, but despite a possible shift to

04:29the left, analysts say there won't be a significant change to Lithuania's foreign policy.

04:36The Social Democrats are broadly supportive of continuing aid to Ukraine and keeping the

04:40defence spending above 3% of GDP.
