Thompson will cherish Mavericks debut for life

Klay Thompson, Jason Kidd and Luka Doncic reflect on a record-breaking debut for the former Warriors star.

00:15Well, the feelings were a lot of nerves, anxiousness, but

00:19after a few minutes and you see one go through, you feel great.

00:23I mean, it's easy to play with a guy like that, you know.

00:26It makes your life easier.

00:28It makes my life and Kai's easier. It makes the whole team's life easier.

00:32It was great to be out there with Luka.

00:36What an incredible talent.

00:39I mean, it doesn't make any sense because

00:42what we're taught growing up as far as being the best basketball players,

00:46you gotta jump the highest, you gotta run the fastest, but

00:49somehow Luka defies that.

00:51Klay's ability to knock down threes on the throw,

00:54throw a hit just on a catch is a special play that we don't,

00:58we're not sitting here saying run it, that's just basketball.

01:01And Luka and Kai and those guys, PJ,

01:04understand the throw ahead to Klay puts a lot of pressure on the defense.

01:08It's only one game in October, but

01:10it feels good just to get the first one out the way and

01:13setting a record is always a great feeling and

01:16something I'll never take for granted.

01:19You only get the first time of something so often, so

01:22to experience that and

01:24hear the roar from the crowd was really cool and

01:29I will cherish that moment for the rest of my life.
