00:07who are currently left behind?

00:10How do we create a more equitable global order?

00:15First, by strengthening and expanding platforms of an independent nature and by widening the

00:22choices in different domains and minimizing undue reliance on those that can be leveraged.

00:30This is really where BRICS can make a difference for the Global South.

00:35Second, by reforming established institutions and mechanisms, especially the UN Security

00:42Council in the permanent and the non-permanent categories.

00:47So too the multilateral development banks whose working procedures are just as outdated

00:54as that of the UN.

00:57India initiated an effort during its G20 presidency and we are glad to see that Brazil is taking

01:04it forward.

01:05Third, by democratizing the global economy through creating more production hubs.

01:12The COVID experience is a sharp reminder of the need for more resilient, redundant

01:19and shorter supply chains.

01:22For essential needs, every region legitimately aspires to create their own production capabilities.

01:30Fourth, by correcting distortions in global infrastructure that are a legacy from the

01:37colonial era.

01:39The world urgently needs more connectivity options that enhance logistics and mitigate

01:46risks.

01:47This must be a collective endeavour for common good with utmost respect for territorial integrity

01:55and sovereignty.

01:57And fifth, by sharing experiences and new initiatives, Excellencies, addressing conflicts

02:04and tensions effectively is a particular need of the day.

02:08Prime Minister Modi has emphasized that this is not an era of war.

02:14Disputes and differences must be settled by dialogue and diplomacy.

02:19Agreements, once reached, must be scrupulously respected.

02:25International law should be adhered to without exception and there should be zero tolerance

02:31for terrorism.

02:33Excellencies, the situation in the Middle East, West Asia for us, is an understandable

02:40concern.

02:41There is a widespread anxiety that the conflict would spread further in the region.

02:48Maritime trade has also been deeply affected.

02:52The human and material consequences of further escalation are truly serious.

02:58Any approach has to be fair and durable, leading to a two-state solution.

03:22Excellencies, we face the paradox that even as forces of change have advanced, some long-standing

03:31issues have only become more complex.

03:36On the one hand, there is the steady diversification of production and consumption.

03:43Nations that attained independence from colonialism have accelerated their development and socio-economic

03:49progress.

03:51New capabilities emerged, facilitating the harnessing of more talent.

03:57This economic, political and cultural rebalancing has now reached a point where we can contemplate

04:06real multipolarity.
