00:15He said the Fatwa meeting will specifically discuss the issue of GISB and whether it will
00:22be gazetted as deviant or otherwise.
00:25He was also asked about Minister in the Prime Minister's Department in charge of Religious
00:30Affairs, Datuk Mohamed Naeem Mokhtar's statement that differences of opinion among Muslims
00:37should be managed courteously.
00:39Luqman said there are authorities and fatwa that the community has to comply with to avoid
00:44conflict.
00:45He said everyone has his or her view, but at the end of the day, they have to comply
00:50with the decision issued by the fatwa institution.
00:54He added that more than 20 groups with elements of deviant teachings have been detected in
00:59the federal territories.
01:01Luqman said this after launching a laptop aid scheme in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
01:05So far, the states that have declared GISB's beliefs and teachings as deviant are Melaka,
01:11Perlis, Selangor, Sabah and Penang.
01:15In September, the country was stunned by police raids and rescues of hundreds of children
01:19from homes associated with GISB over allegations of abuse, exploitation and sexual assault.
01:28More than 170 members, individuals and executives of the group have been detained to help with
01:34police investigation, with a dozen being charged in court for various offences.
