00:04lives and livelihoods. Left unchecked, these disaster risks threaten to derail
00:10the development aspirations of the Asia-Pacific region and push back
00:15progress that has taken decades to achieve. Investing in disaster prevention
00:20must be a priority for all countries in the region. This means dedicated funding
00:25for disaster risk reduction in national budgets and dedicating a larger
00:30proportion of official development assistance to prevention and not simply
00:35response.
