Activists protest as first group of 16 migrants on Italian ship arrive in Albania

Opponents of the Italy-Albania migrant deal argue it is undemocratic because the people of both countries have not been consulted.

00:09international waters. Demonstrators on Wednesday gathered at the port of

00:13Shenzhen, one of the two centers Italy has opened in Albania.

00:31The protest followed the arrival of the first group of migrants at the port of

00:35Shenzhen. Under a five-year deal signed last November by the Italian Prime

00:40Minister and her Albanian counterpart, up to 3,000 migrants picked up by the

00:45Italian Coast Guard in international waters each month will be sheltered in

00:50Albania. The first center and area in Shenzhen, northwest of the capital

00:55Tirana, is used for screening newcomers.
