00:17Friends, Ratan Tata was the successful businessman of our India.
00:22Along with that, he has also done a lot of social work, which is why today, after his death, every Indian has tears in his eyes.
00:30But do you know how Ratan Tata built such a big business empire?
00:36Is it all his hard work alone?
00:38And what is the history of Tata Group?
00:41If you don't know, then stay with us till the end of this video.
00:45Friends, the Tata Group empire you are seeing today is not the hard work of Ratan Tata alone, but the hard work of 150 years behind it.
00:53Sir Jamshedji Tata laid the foundation of this business, and this was the time of 1849 when Jamshedji Tata was born.
01:02In 1858, he completed his education and joined the cotton trading business with his father.
01:09Friends, after 10 years of hard work, his business had grown a lot, but still Jamshedji Tata was not satisfied by just selling cotton.
01:19Now he himself wanted to make cotton clothes, and to do this, he opened a mill in Nagpur in 1878, and clothes began to be made here.
01:28But still there were some problems in front of him, the workers here were not taking their work seriously.
01:34At least 20% of the workers did not come to work every day, and Jamshedji Tata also found a solution for this.
01:42He decided to give pensions for his workers after retirement.
01:46Along with that, he also got his workers medical insurance.
01:49Apart from this, he also organized events such as Family Day and Sports Day.
01:55Friends, because of all these things, the workers started feeling very valued.
02:00After that, the workers started working under the name of Jamshedji Tata's business.
02:05And they got to see a new enthusiasm.
02:08Apart from this, friends, at this time, there was a lot of demand for silk in India.
02:14And Jamshedji saw that the weather of Bangalore and Mysore is somewhat like France.
02:19So he bought silkworms from France and opened Tata Silk Farm in Bangalore and Mysore.
02:25He got the local farmers to breed silkworms.
02:28Apart from this, Jamshedji was a resident of Mumbai.
02:30And he had a lot of attachment to his city.
02:33He wanted to open a 5-star hotel here for the development of the city.
02:37And that's why he kept the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai in 1898.
02:43And this hotel was built in 1903.
02:46Apart from this, he also wanted to develop steel in India.
02:50He knew that steel is very important for the development of construction, railways and manufacturing in India.
02:57And now he wanted to install a steel plant in India.
03:00During the construction of the Taj Hotel, he spent 17 years of his life in India looking for iron reserves.
03:08And then finally, in 1899, he found iron reserves in the Bengal province.
03:14He had seen the Taj Hotel opening in front of him.
03:18But unfortunately, Jamshedji couldn't see the steel being made with his own eyes.
03:23Because in 1904, at the age of 65, Jamshedji Tata passed away.
03:29Friends, now it was the responsibility of his son, Dorabji Tata, to fulfill all his dreams.
03:35Dorabji Tata felt that India was far behind other countries in terms of scientific research and education.
03:41That's why he established the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore in 1909.
03:47And friends, this institute made India India's first computer and first aircraft.
03:54Apart from education, Dorabji Tata also wanted to install a hydroelectric plant in India.
04:00He built dams and lakes with the help of 7000 workers.
04:04In 1911, this power plant was ready.
04:07Friends, this is the same company that you and I know by the name of Tata Power.
04:12Apart from this, he also set up a steel plant to fulfill his father Jamshedji Tata's dream.
04:18And the name of this company was Tata Steel.
04:20With the arrival of Dorabji Tata, Tata Group's business had increased a lot.
04:25But finally, in 1932, Dorabji Tata passed away.
04:30And after his death, in 1938, J. R. D. Tata became the chairman of Tata Group.
04:38After joining Tata Group, he first started the Tata Aviation Service.
04:43But when India got independence in 1947, the Indian government handed over some of India's companies.
04:51And this airline was also included in it, whose name was later changed to Air India.
04:57Apart from this, J. R. D. Tata observed that some important chemicals are ordered from outside India,
05:03such as caustic soda and ash soda.
05:06Friends, these were such chemicals through which things like soap, detergent, glass and textile were made.
05:13And now it was his dream that he would produce these chemicals in India.
05:17For this, he opened a chemical plant in Gujarat.
05:21Friends, this is how Tata Chemicals started.
05:23This is the same Tata Chemical that makes Tata Salt today.
05:27After this, Tata noticed that even after the independence of our country, India has no cosmetic brand of its own.
05:34And that's why he started LACME.
05:36Friends, LACME used to be a French brand, which means Lakshmi in Hindi.
05:41And J. R. D. Tata didn't give this brand a Hindi name because he knew that Indian women are much more inspired by foreign names.
05:48And they consider foreign brands to be of high quality.
05:51And that's why this product was named LACME.
05:53After this, J. R. D. Tata opened a company called Telco.
05:57This company used to make steam engines for railways.
06:00But later trucks were also made in this company.
06:04Friends, this is the same company that we know today as Tata Motors.
06:07And thousands of vehicles of this company are running in our country.
06:11Friends, J. R. D. Tata was 87 years old.
06:14And now it was time to give the command of Tata Group to some other young person.
06:18He selected a member of his family for this task.
06:22And this new chairman was Sir Ratan Tata.
06:24Friends, at this time, Ratan Tata was studying architecture in USA.
06:29Then he received a letter from J. R. D. Tata.
06:32And he was asked to come to India and join the business.
06:35Friends, Ratan Tata came to India.
06:36And he joined Tata Steel.
06:39Seeing his dedication and business talent, J. R. D. Tata started giving him big business responsibilities one after the other.
06:46After his arrival, Tata Group got a lot of profit in its business.
06:50After this, in 1991, J. R. D. Tata made Ratan Tata the chairman of Tata Group.
06:56Friends, after becoming the chairman, Ratan Tata saw that India does not have a car
07:02whose design and production is happening inside India.
07:06That's why in 1995, Sir Ratan Tata decided to make a 100% Indian car.
07:12After this, Ratan Tata played a very important role in designing the car himself.
07:18And finally, in 1998, India's first car was launched.
07:23And this car was named Indica.
07:25Friends, today Tata Motor has become the company that earns the most revenue of Tata Group.
07:30After this, Sir Ratan Tata wanted that the Indian company should not only do business in India, but in the whole world.
07:37And that's why he started acquiring foreign brands one after the other to expand in the foreign market.
07:43And friends, today Tata Group gains more than half of its revenue from outside India.
07:48Friends, in the leadership of Ratan Tata, the list of what Tata Group has achieved is very big.
07:54Tata Group has achieved success in every field.
07:58But today, this diamond of Tata Group is no longer with us.
08:02On 9th October, 2024, it has passed away.
08:05And now the command of Tata Group is in the hands of Ratan Tata's step-brother, Noel Tata.
08:11Now we have to see how much Noel Tata expands Tata Group.
