20 December - National weather forecast by Dan Stroud.
Transcript
00:00Hello. There is some good news. That cloud is starting to lift during the course of Monday,
00:05so some sunny spells starting to develop, although turning cooler from the east. So
00:11the current settled spell is due to an area of high pressure and that continues to dominate
00:15the weather during the course of Monday and Tuesday, although a cold front is moving westwards
00:20introducing those fresher conditions. So back to this evening. So a rather cloudy picture
00:26tonight with a lot of cloud around across many parts of England, Wales and Scotland
00:30and as that cold front moves westwards, outbreaks of light rain and drizzle are possible. A
00:36chilly night with temperatures down into single figures with overnight lows of 3 or 4 across
00:40the south and 1s and 2s across the north. So a dull and murky start tomorrow morning,
00:47although fog much less of an issue than it was on Sunday morning. Rather gloomy during
00:53the course of Monday morning, although with further outbreaks of light drizzle in places.
00:58During the afternoon that cloud lifting and starting to break, so a few sunny spells developing
01:03in places. A chilly day but temperatures generally around average with highs of around 9 or 8
01:09across many parts of England, highs of 5 across Scotland. And during the course of Monday
01:15evening those cooler conditions starting to filter in from the east and as it does that
01:20cloud starting to break up, so some clear spells developing overnight Monday into Tuesday.
01:29And looking at the outlook, so more in the way of sunshine as we move into the new working
01:33week, although some frosty nights are possible early in the week, turning unsettled midweek
01:38with some rain in the forecast. Thank you for listening and please check our website
01:43for the latest updates. Bye for now.
