00:00Instead of adding to the mess, an illegal-based start-up benefited from the release of single-use plastic.
00:18Come on, let's change the game and find out how plastic will transform to become plastic.
00:24For a more sustainable future.
00:31The concept of a circular economy is slowly becoming known,
00:35in which the life cycle of materials and goods is prolonged so that natural resources are not wasted and garbage is also reduced.
00:43That's why these single-use plastics that take up to a thousand years to decompose
00:49will be given a new life that we can use in our homes.
00:54From plastic, it will transform to eco-roofing tiles for roofing.
00:58Developed by an illegal-based start-up led by Sir Keno Uy.
01:02The idea started because we have a lot of plastic in our area.
01:08While we are waiting for the solution to resolve our plastic problem,
01:13we looked for a technology that we can use to reduce and use garbage.
01:18Eco-roofing tiles are light as iron, but unlike iron, these have insulation properties against heat.
01:26They started building eco-roofing tiles in 2019.
01:30And to make the process more sustainable, they don't dissolve single-use plastics to avoid pollution.
01:36For the ordinary plastic to become roofing tiles, it will go through a process.
01:43We will crush it so that it will become pellet-form plastic.
01:50After this, we will not dissolve it like the usual process.
01:55We will just put an eco-friendly adhesive and then we will put it in a mold.
02:01And after six hours, this is what it will look like.
02:07Plastic cement will be scraped to make their innovation more durable and weatherproof.
02:12This is a startup that was granted a DOST grant to fight plastic pollution in the country.
02:18All of these are initiatives that can help reduce plastic or use plastic in other ways
02:26so that it will not become waste and pollutant.
02:30So that we can have a job generation and also making sure that we protect our environment.
02:38By next year, Nacerqueno's target is to try their product as materials for modular housing.
02:47This is a big step towards sustainability.
02:51Aside from reducing plastic pollution, we can make materials that can benefit our countrymen.
