00:52While the Terrifier movies are known for over-the-top gore and practical effects,

00:56Art the Clown can build tension with a mere expression.

00:59Before raining mayhem upon several victims, Art follows Dawn and Tara into a pizza parlor, locking eyes with the latter.

01:06It may be Halloween, but Art's get-up and grin are ghastly no matter which day of the year it is.

01:11While Tara suggests fleeing, Dawn sees an opportunity to score some likes on Instagram.

01:16He hesitates hacking her to pieces, for now.

01:19The fact that Art doesn't smile for the camera essentially seals Dawn's fate.

01:24He also seals Tara with a proposal.

01:26Before getting to them, Art makes a mess of the pizzeria.

01:29Actually, two messes, both sickening in different ways.

01:33Number 9. Meeting the Little Pale Girl. Terrifier 2.

01:48Like Art, the Pale Girl had instant horror icon written all over her from the get-go.

01:53Her introduction blends chills and comedy, which is appropriate for a fellow clown.

01:58With his attire getting too bloody even for his tastes,

02:01Art drops by the laundromat where an unsuspecting patron sleeps.

02:04Art also encounters a kindred spirit and a young girl who shares a similar wardrobe.

02:09They share a demented sense of humor, too.

02:11As the audience questions who this new villain is, she's revealed to be a figment of Art's imagination.

02:23Although not everyone sees the Pale Girl, Art isn't the only one who can.

02:28This scene not only establishes her as a creepy character, but one of the franchise's most mysterious.

02:48How do you reason with Art the Clown?

02:50You don't.

02:51But when you put him in the same room with someone else who's not exactly sound of mind,

02:55it's the closest you'll get to a physiological breakthrough.

02:58Art cradles a baby doll, which the building's resident cat lady thinks is her daughter.

03:03She pleads with Art to spare her baby, who she calls Emily.

03:07Her maternal nature seemingly reaches Art,

03:09who comes in for an embrace as he sucks-slash-chews on his thumb.

03:19Of course, it isn't long until Art fashions the woman into a suit.

03:26Still, Art technically didn't harm the doll, leaving us to wonder if he was persuaded to show mercy.

03:32Or maybe Art just does not care about what can't bleed.

03:44Terrifier reveals in its first scene that at least one of Art's victims will survive, albeit barely.

03:50The audience is led to believe this will be Tara, who we follow for most of the first half.

04:05In Final Girl fashion, Tara proves resilient against Art, even getting the upper hand at one point.

05:38This jaw-dropping ending raises numerous questions, but it makes one thing clear.

05:57The opening scene flashes forward a year after Art's initial killing spree.

06:01A disfigured woman, later revealed to be Vicky,

06:04is seemingly the only one left to tell the tale.

06:07In an interview with sleazy talk show host Monica Brown,

06:10Vicky assures viewers that Art is gone for good.

06:13He's dead. I saw it happen.

06:17The audience knows better as a certain somebody watches the interview on TV.

06:22This sequence pulls the rug out from under us, however.

06:25Backstage, Monica makes cruel comments about Vicky's appearance as someone stalks her.

06:30Obviously, this will be Art's introduction, with Monica meeting a brutal end.

06:47Half of that prediction is accurate.

06:49Monica is dead meat, but her assailant is Vicky,

06:52who doesn't appreciate being used as a ratings ploy.

06:59Numerous horror films boil down to a confrontation between the villain and the final girl.

07:03The climax of Terrifier 2 is on a whole nother level, playing out like an epic battle.

07:09Part of that is thanks to Sienna's Halloween costume.

07:11But a warrior isn't defined by their gear.

07:14Sienna's strength, bravery and determination make her a final girl for the ages.

07:18When it looks like Art has plunged Sienna into her final resting place,

07:22she rises like a fallen angel to put evil in its place.

07:32This isn't to say that Sienna doesn't endure a world of pain

07:35as she protects herself and her brother Jonathan from the bloodthirsty clown.

07:39Ultimately though, Sienna earns her wings while Art loses his head.

07:48What the hell is wrong with you?

07:49What, did you think he was going to hack me up into little pieces or something?

07:52This is another scene that plays with expectations in truly twisted ways.

07:56As Tara finds herself strapped into a chair, we assume she is Art's top priority.

08:01The clown toys with Tara, taking his time picking out the right instrument of destruction.

08:06Art holds off on sawing Tara, but don't breathe a sigh of relief.

08:10He's only keeping Tara around so she can witness her friend's horrific demise.

08:17Art unveils an upside-down Don, proceeding to saw her in half.

08:21He doesn't make it quick by starting from the head.

08:24The sawing commences from the other end,

08:26guaranteeing that Don will feel the maximum pain until she takes her dying breath.

08:31We've heard of breaking Don, but this is ridiculous.

08:37Terrifier 2

08:46Imagine a surreal kids' show crossed with a hard-R slasher film.

08:50The result is a fever dream called The Clown Cafe.

08:53A slumbering Sienna is among a cast of colorful characters,

08:56including a jolly host singing a song so irritatingly catchy it's scary.

09:01Sienna is seemingly the only one aware that something is off.

09:05By the time the others begin to catch on,

09:07Art has already pulled a machine gun out of his bag of tricks.

09:10Even when set ablaze, though, the host abides by a show-must-go-on mentality.

09:15Thankfully, this is where the nightmare ends.

09:18Then again, Sienna awakens to a fire,

09:20leading us to speculate that The Clown Cafe is more than a nightmare.

09:24It is Sienna's personal version of hell.

10:54Allie's demise escalates quickly while also being excessively drawn out.

11:03yet none of them kill Allie instantly.

11:05Maybe Art is making things up as he goes along,

11:08although we wouldn't be surprised if he planned out each move

11:11so Allie would experience every ounce of agony.

11:17He isn't above pouring salt in the wounds either.

11:20Even then, Art keeps Allie alive long enough for her mom to see the aftermath.

11:24While her mom's head makes a disturbing Halloween bowl,

11:27Allie's fate just might be the clown's masterpiece,

11:30a genuine work of Art.
