00:16I am Mark Anthony Babela, owner of a shoe manufacturing business here in Marikina.

00:30How did you start your business?

00:35We started our business way back in 2017.

00:38We started online.

00:40At that time, I was still working and I was thinking about what I can do for business.

00:44We are business-minded.

00:46While we were working, I was thinking about what I can do for business.

00:49Then, I thought of selling online.

00:51I always go to Marikina.

00:53Every Basar of the shoe festival and back to school, I always go here.

01:00One time, I thought of selling online.

01:02That's when I started selling shoes.

01:10For a few months, we decided to open a factory.

01:14Then, we got an offer.

01:25I am not from Marikina.

01:28I am from a province called Mindoro.

01:31After I graduated, I moved to Manila.

01:35I started working here.

01:37I worked in a BPO industry for 8 years before I resigned.

01:41I worked with them.

01:42I told them that I can't resign because my company is not stable yet.

01:46While I was working, I managed a business in the morning.

01:50Actually, I have a sideline.

01:53I told them that if I focus on this business, maybe it will grow.

01:57That's when I realized my shortcomings and what I need to improve.

02:03That's when I realized that I need to focus on this business.

02:08Marikina is a shoe capital of the Philippines.

02:11Before, when I say shoes, I mean other brands.

02:13Now, I am happy because a lot of Filipinos are supporting us.

02:18Especially, our clients.

02:20They are coming back because they know that Marikina is doing a good job.

02:24The product is really good.

02:27I hope that the enthusiasm of shoes will come back like before.

02:34Actually, now we are struggling with manpower.

02:37Because only a few people are making shoes here.

02:42What I am doing now, since I am from a province,

02:46I bring my countrymen here and teach them.

02:51So that when our old artisans are gone, new generations will make shoes.

02:57So that the traditional way of manufacturing shoes will not be lost.

03:04To my fellow Filipinos, let's support the Filipino craftsmen

03:08so that our country will progress.

03:11Because once you support, not only our business,

03:14but also the other families who make our shoes,
