Sally Field experienced 'horrific' illegal abortion aged 17

Oscar winner Sally Field has recalled her "horrific" experience having an illegal abortion as a teenager.

00:30I feel still very shamed about it because I was raised in the 50s and you

00:37know it's it's ingrained in me and I was 17 I had no choices in my life I didn't

00:46have a lot of family support in any way or finances I I'd graduate from high

00:53school but had no no one ever said go how about college about it you know I

00:56nothing

01:05what we parked on a on a really scrunchy looking street scary and he parked about

01:14three blocks away and said see that building down there and he gave me an

01:18envelope with money and with cash and I was to walk into that building and give

01:23them the cash and then come right back to him

01:34and I then when it was finished they said go go go go go like like the

01:42building was on fire and they didn't want me there you know it was it was

01:47illegal

01:56and it it's it's beyond how you can go back to that and do that to our little

02:06girls and our young women and not have respect and regard for their health and

02:14their own decisions about whether they feel they're able to give birth to a

02:22child at that time it's we can't go back we can't go back we have to all stand up

02:30and and fight
