00:00Hello friends welcome back to Extra Sports News.
00:05Today highlights from Thursday night football score and updates matchup of Buccaneers vs
00:10Falcons.
00:12The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons will meet on Thursday night football, to begin
00:17week 5 of the 2024 NFL season.
00:21This is an exciting NFC South Clash, as some NFL fans believed Atlanta and Tampa Bay to
00:26be the top contenders to win the division coming into the season.
00:30The Falcons will be eager to continue their momentum after defeating the division rival
00:35Saints in week 4.
00:37Atlanta was locked into the physical back-and-forth battle and ultimately walked away victorious
00:42after a 58-yard field goal by Young-Ho Koo.
00:46Under center for Atlanta will be Kirk Cousins, who signed a massive four-year contract with
00:51Atlanta in the offseason.
00:53He suffered an Achilles injury last October, cutting his 2023 season short in Minnesota,
01:00and has struggled through his first month in Atlanta.
01:03Cousins ranks 24th in QBR, 43.0, and 22nd in passer rating, 83.5, through the first
01:12four weeks.
01:13Atlanta ranks 21st in EPA per play.
01:17On the other side of the field will be Baker Mayfield.
01:20The former No. 1 overall pick is off to a terrific start in his second season with the
01:25Buccaneers, sitting 4th in passer rating, 106.9, and 13th in QBR, 57.1.
01:34Tampa Bay ranks 8th in EPA per play.
01:37Tampa Bay comes into the short week off an impressive 33-16 win over the Eagles.
01:43Injuries decimated Philadelphia entering the matchup, but Tampa Bay took care of business.
01:49This will be the Buccaneers' first divisional matchup of the season.
01:53Buccaneers punt after losing 14 yards on possession so much for Tampa Bay being in field goal
01:58range.
01:59They lose 14 yards on their possession because of negative plays and a holding penalty.
02:05The Falcons get the ball back at their own 20-yard line.
02:08They have 1-12 and no timeouts left to get into field goal range to at least extend the
02:13game.
02:14Atlanta wasn't able to get any positive momentum after recovering Irving's fumble.
02:20Tyler Allgaier ran for 2-yard loss and Kirk Cousins was sacked for a loss before a short
02:25dump-off on 3rd down set up a 4th and 15-dot rather than punt with all 3 timeouts remaining.
02:31The Falcons decided to go for it.
02:34Cousins threw the ball into double coverage and it was intercepted by Levante David.
02:39The Falcons will now be forced to use all their timeouts to try to get the ball back.
02:44But even if they do, the Buccaneers will still be able to attempt a field goal.
02:49The Buccaneers logged two 3rd down conversions on 3rd and 2s after Atlanta's missed field
02:54goal.
02:55It looked like they were going to get a chance to run the clock out on the Falcons, but Irving,
03:00a rookie running back, had the ball punched out of his hands by veteran safety Jesse Bates.
03:05The Falcons recovered the fumble and will now have just under three minutes to orchestrate
03:10a game-tying or game-winning drive.
03:13Kyle Pitts was held without a catch for the first time in his NFL career in Week 4.
03:19The Falcons made up for that by getting him an early, downfield target that put Atlanta
03:24just on the fringe of young Hoku's field goal range.
03:28The Falcons' offense started strong, orchestrating a 7-play, 70-yard drive to get into the end
03:34zone.
03:35Kirk Cousins found Drake London over the middle of the field and saw his talented receiver
03:40bounce off contact and cross the goal line to give the Falcons the first points of the
03:44game.
03:45Young Hoku knocks through the extra point to make it 7-0 early in Atlanta.
