Transcript
00:00In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
00:12Ta Ha
00:17We did not reveal the Quran to you to cause you distress.
00:29It is only a reminder for him who fears Allah.
00:40A revelation from Him who created the earth and the high heavens.
00:54The Most Compassionate Lord is settled on the throne of the universe.
01:14To Him belongs all that is in the heavens, and all that is in the earth, and all that is in between, and all that is beneath the soil.
01:35Whether you speak out aloud or in a low voice, He knows what is said secretly and even that which is most hidden.
01:54Allah, there is no God but He. His are the most excellent names.
02:01Has the story of Moses reached you?
02:09When he saw a fire and said to his family, hold on, I have just perceived a fire.
02:38Perhaps I will bring a brand from it for you, or I will find some guidance at the fire about the way to follow.
02:48When he came to it, a voice called out, Moses
03:00Verily, I am your Lord. Take off your shoes. You are in the Sacred Valley, Toa.
03:27I myself have chosen you. Therefore, give air to what is revealed.
03:46Verily, I am Allah. There is no God beside me. So serve me and establish prayers to remember me.
04:06The hour of resurrection is coming. I have willed to keep the time of its coming hidden, so that everyone may be recompensed in accordance with his effort.
04:28Let him who does not believe in it and follows his lust not turn your thought away from it, lest you are ruined.
04:42And what is in your right hand, O Moses?
04:57Moses answered, This is my staff. I lean on it when I walk, and with it I beat down leaves for my flock, and I have many other uses for it.
05:09He said, Moses, throw it down.
05:23So he threw it down, and lo! It was a rapidly moving snake.
05:37Then he said, Seize it, and have no fear. We shall restore it to its former state.
05:56And place your hand in your armpit. It will come forth shining white, without blemish. This is another sign of Allah.
06:11For we shall show you some of our greatest signs.
06:22And go to Pharaoh now, for he has transgressed all bounds.
06:31Moses said, Lord, open my breast for me,
06:40and ease my task for me,
06:48and loosen the knot from my tongue,
06:56so that they may understand my speech,
07:05and appoint for me from my household someone who will help me bear my burden,
07:15Aran, my brother, strengthen me through him,
07:28and let him share my task,
07:35that we may abundantly extol your glory,
07:42and may remember you much.
07:50Verily, you have always watched over us.
08:00He said, Moses, your petition is granted.
08:11We have again bestowed our favour upon you.
08:14Recall when we indicated to your mother through inspiration.
08:27Put the baby into a chest, and then throw him in the river.
08:53The river will throw him up on the shore, and then an enemy of mine and an enemy of his will take him.
09:01And I spread my love over you, in order that you might be reared in my sight.
09:08Recall when your sister walked, and said, Shall I show you who will protect him?
09:15We brought you back to your mother, so that her eyes might be contented, and you might not grieve.
09:24And you killed a soul, and We saved you from grief, and We tested you with trials.
09:33So you stayed for years among the people of Midian, and then you came to My decree, O Moses.
09:44Recall when your sister went along, saying, Shall I direct you to one who will take charge of him?
09:51Thus We brought you back to your mother, so that her heart might be gladdened, and she might not grieve.
09:59Moses, recall when you slew a person. We delivered you from distress, and made you go through several trials.
10:08Then you stayed for several years among the people of Midian, and now you have come at the right moment as ordained.
10:16And I have chosen you for My service.
10:31So go forth, both you and your brother, with My signs, and do not slacken in remembering Me.
10:39Go both of you to Pharaoh, for he has transgressed all bounds.
10:59And speak to him gently, perhaps he may take heed, or fear Allah.
11:09Indeed, We fear that he may transgress against Us, or transgress all bounds.
11:27And fear not, for I am with you both, hearing and seeing.
11:40So go to him and say, Behold, both of us are the messengers of your Lord.
11:46So go to him and say, Behold, both of us are the messengers of your Lord.
11:54And fear not, for I am with you both, hearing and seeing.
12:01So go to him and say, Behold, both of us are the messengers of your Lord.
12:08Let the children of Israel go with us, and do not chastise them.
12:13We have come to you with a sign from your Lord, and peace shall be for him who follows the true guidance.
12:31It has been revealed to us that chastisement awaits those who call the lie to the truth, and turned away from it.
12:46Pharaoh said, Moses, who is the Lord of the two of you?
13:01He said, Our Lord is He who gave everything its form, and then guided it.
13:13Pharaoh asked, Then what is the state of the former generations?
13:30Moses said, Its knowledge is with my Lord, recorded in the book.
13:35My Lord does not err, nor does He forget.
14:01He it is who spread the earth for you, and made in it paths for you, and sent down water from the sky,
14:09and then through it we brought forth many species of diverse plants.
14:24So eat yourself, and pasture your cattle.
14:28Surely there are many signs in this for people of understanding.
14:43From this very earth we created you, and to the same earth we shall cause you to return,
14:50and from it we shall bring you forth to life again.
14:58Indeed, we showed Pharaoh our signs, all of them, but he declared them to be false, and rejected them.
15:17He said, Have you come to us to drive us out of our land by your sorcery?
15:28We shall confront you with a sorcery like your own.
15:33So appoint a day when both of us might meet, face to face, in an open space,
15:39an appointment, which shall be as good as your own.
15:44And if you do not agree with us, we shall make an appointment,
15:49which shall be as good as your own.
15:53He said, Have you come to us to drive us out of our land by your sorcery?
15:58We shall confront you with a sorcery like your own.
16:02And if you do not agree with us, we shall make an appointment,
16:07which shall be as good as your own.
16:11And if you do not agree with us, we shall make an appointment,
16:16which shall be as good as your own.
16:24Pharaoh went back and concerted all his stratagem, and returned for the encounter.
16:43At the time of the encounter, Moses said to them,
16:48At the time of the encounter, Moses said to them,
16:52Woe to you! Do not invent falsehoods against Allah, lest He destroy you with a scourge.
16:59Surely, those who invent lies shall come to grief.
17:13Thereupon they wrangled among themselves about the matter
17:17and conferred in secret.
17:37Some of them said,
17:39These two are magicians who want to drive you out of your land with their magic
17:45and to destroy your excellent way of life.
17:58So master all your strategy and come forth in a row.
18:03Whoever prevails today shall triumph.
18:16The magician said,
18:18Moses, will you throw down or shall we be the first to throw?
18:36Moses replied,
18:38No, let it be you to throw first.
18:41Then suddenly it appeared to Moses owing to their magic
18:45as if their robes and staffs were running.
18:55So Moses' heart was filled with fear.
19:04We said to him,
19:07We said to him,
19:26And throw down what is in your right hand,
19:29it will swallow up all that they have wrought.
19:32They have wrought only a magician's stratagem.
19:36A magician cannot come to any good,
19:39come whence he may.
19:52Eventually, the magicians were impelled to fall down prostrate
19:57and said,
19:58We believe in the Lord of Moses and Aaron.
20:06He said,
20:37Pharaoh said,
20:38What?
20:39Did you believe in him even before I permitted you to do so?
20:44Surely he must be your chief who taught you magic.
20:48Now I will certainly cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides
20:54and will crucify you on the trunks of palm trees.
20:58And then you will come to know
21:00which of us can inflict sterner and more lethal punishment
21:05which of us can inflict sterner and more lasting torment.
21:29The magicians answered,
21:31By him who has created us,
21:34we will deliver you to the truth after manifest signs have come to us.
21:38So decree whatever you will.
21:41Your decree will pertain at the most to the present life of the world.
22:04We believe in our Lord that he may forgive us our sins
22:08and also forgive us the practice of magic to which you had compelled us.
22:14Allah is the best and he alone will abide.
22:19Verily, he who comes to his Lord as a criminal
22:24shall have Hell, wherein he shall neither die nor live.
22:41And he who comes to Him as a believer
22:44but he who comes to Him with faith and righteous works
22:49shall be exalted to high ranks.
22:52But he who comes to Him with faith and righteous works
22:57shall be exalted to high ranks.
23:00Gardens of Eden,
23:03beneath which rivers flow,
23:06therein shall they abide.
23:09And that is the reward of one who purifies himself.
23:28And We revealed to Moses,
23:33Most certainly, We revealed to Moses,
23:36Proceed with My servants in the night
23:39and strike for them a dry path in the sea.
23:43Have no fear of being overtaken,
23:46nor be afraid of treading through the sea.
23:51Pharaoh pursued them with his hosts,
23:54but they were fully overwhelmed by the sea.
23:58Pharaoh led his people astray,
24:00he did not guide them aright.
24:03O Children of Israel,
24:06do not be afraid of being overtaken by the sea.
24:10I will guide you to the right path.
24:13I will guide you to the right path.
24:16O Children of Israel,
24:19do not be afraid of being overtaken by the sea.
24:23I will guide you to the right path.
24:26O Children of Israel,
24:29We have saved you from your enemy,
24:33and We have promised you the right side of the Mount,
24:38the right side of the Mount,
24:41and We have sent down to you manna and salwa.
24:47Children of Israel,
24:49We saved you from your enemy
24:51and made a covenant with you
24:53on the right side of the Mount.
24:55And sent down on you manna and quails.
24:59Eat of the good things that We have provided for you,
25:03and do not transgress,
25:05for My wrath will fall upon you.
25:14Saying,
25:15Partake of the good things that We have provided for you,
25:19but do not transgress,
25:21lest My wrath fall upon you.
25:24For he upon whom My wrath falls is ruined.
25:29But I am indeed most forgiving to him
25:43who repents and believes
25:45and does righteous works
25:47and keeps to the right way.
25:50And Moses did not hasten you from your people.
25:57But O Moses,
25:59what has made you come in haste from your people?
26:03He said,
26:04They are upon my trail,
26:07and I hastened to you, O my Lord, so that you may be pleased.
26:11He said,
26:12They are close behind me,
26:14and I hasten to you, Lord,
26:16that you may be pleased with me.
26:19He said,
26:20We have tested your people after you,
26:25and the Samiri led them astray.
26:28Said he,
26:29Verily we tested your people in your absence,
26:33and the Samiri led them astray.
26:36So Moses returned to his people angry and sorry.
26:44He said,
26:45O my people,
26:46did your Lord not promise you a good promise?
26:50Did the covenant last long for you,
26:53or did you want to be forsaken by your Lord,
26:58so you disobeyed My promise?
27:02Moses returned to his people full of wrath and grief and said,
27:07My people,
27:08Has your Lord not made good an excellent promise He made to you,
27:13and has a long time passed since those promises were fulfilled?
27:18Or was it to incur the wrath of your Lord that you broke your promise with me?
27:23They answered,
27:24We did not break our promise with you out of our own volition,
27:28but we were laden with the load of people,
27:31and we were not able to bear the burden of the people.
27:36So we broke our promise,
27:38and so did the Samiri.
27:44They answered,
27:45We did not break our promise with you out of our own volition,
27:50but we were laden with the load of people's ornaments,
27:53and we simply threw them down into the fire.
27:57And the Samiri also threw down something.
28:15And brought out of there from the molten gold,
28:18the effigy of a calf, that load.
28:21The people cried out,
28:23This is your deity, and the deity of Moses,
28:26whom Moses has forgotten.
28:41Did they not see that it did not return a word to them,
28:45and had no power either to hurt them,
28:48or to cause them any benefit?
29:09Certainly Aaron had said to them even before the return of Moses,
29:14My people, you were fallen into error because of the calf.
29:19Surely your Lord is most compassionate,
29:22so follow me and obey my command.
29:35But they answered,
29:37By no means shall we cease to worship it until Moses returns to us.
29:44He said, O Aaron, what prevented you from seeing them turn away?
30:02Do not follow me. Have you disobeyed my command?
30:07From following my way, have you disobeyed my command?
30:30Aaron answered,
30:32Son of my mother, do not seize me with my beard, nor by the hair of my head.
30:38I feared that on returning you might say,
30:42You sowed discord among the children of Israel,
30:46and did not pay heed to my words.
30:53Moses said, What then is your case, O Samiri?
31:03He answered, I saw what the people did not see.
31:07So I took a handful of dust from the trail of the messenger,
31:11and I flung it into the fire.
31:14Thus did my mind prompt me.
31:33I said, O Aaron, what is your case?
31:36He said, I saw what the people did not see.
31:39So I flung it into the fire.
31:42Thus did my mind prompt me.
31:45Thus did my mind prompt me.
31:48I said, O Aaron, what is your case?
31:51He said, I saw what the people did not see.
31:55Thus did my mind prompt me.
31:58Gone then, all your life you shall cry untouchable.
32:03There awaits a term for your reckoning that you cannot fail to keep.
32:08Now look at your God that you devotedly adored.
32:12We shall burn it, and scatter its remains in the sea.
32:28O Muhammad, thus do we recount to you the events of the past,
32:33and we have bestowed upon you from ourselves an admonition.
32:48He who turns away from the truth,
32:53he who turns away from it,
32:58will surely bear a heavy burden on the day of resurrection,
33:12and will abide under this burden forever.
33:15Grievers shall be the burden on the day of resurrection.
33:23The day when the trumpet shall be sounded,
33:26and we shall muster the sinners,
33:29their eyes turned blue with terror.
33:42They shall whisper among themselves,
33:45you stayed on the earth barely ten days.
33:53We know well what they will say to one another.
33:56We also know that even the most cautious in his estimate will say,
34:01you lived in the world no more than a day.
34:13They ask you concerning the mountains,
34:16say, O my Lord, destroy them.
34:24Where will they go?
34:26Say, my Lord will scatter them like dust,
34:35and leave the earth a level plain,
34:45in which you shall find no crookedness or curvature.
34:54On that day, people shall follow straight on to the call of the summoner,
34:59no one daring to show any haughtiness.
35:02Their voices shall be hushed before the most compassionate Lord,
35:07so that you will hear nothing but a whispering murmur.
35:24On that day, intercession shall not avail,
35:27save of him whom the most compassionate Lord permits,
35:31and whose word of intercession is pleasing to Him.
35:43On that day, intercession shall not avail,
35:46save of him whom the most compassionate Lord permits,
35:51He knows all that is ahead of them,
35:54and all that is behind them,
35:57while the others do not know.
36:08All faces shall be humbled before the ever-living,
36:11the self-subsisting Lord,
36:14and he who bears the burden of iniquity
36:17will have failed.
36:30But whosoever does righteous works,
36:33being a believer,
36:35shall have no fear of suffering wrong or loss.
36:48O Muhammad, thus have we revealed this as an Arabic Quran,
36:52and have expounded in it warning in diverse ways,
36:56so that they may avoid evil or become heedful.
37:01Exalted is Allah,
37:03the true King of the universe,
37:06the Lord of all creation,
37:09the Lord of all creation,
37:12the Lord of all creation,
37:15the Lord of all creation,
37:18the Lord of all creation.
37:30Hasten not with reciting the Quran
37:33before its revelation to you is finished,
37:36and pray,
37:37Lord, increase me in knowledge.
37:52Most certainly,
37:54we had given Adam a command before,
37:57but he forgot.
37:58We found him lacking in firmness of resolution.
38:14Recall when we said to the angels,
38:17prostrate yourselves before Adam.
38:20All prostrated themselves save Iblis.
38:23He refused.
38:29Then we said,
38:30Adam,
38:31he is an enemy to you and to your wife,
38:34so let him not drive both of you out of Paradise,
38:38and plunge you into affliction.
38:47For we have said,
38:48Adam,
38:49he is an enemy to you and to your wife,
38:52so let him not drive both of you out of Paradise,
38:57for in Paradise,
38:59neither are you hungry nor naked,
39:09nor face thirst or scorching heat.
39:12But Satan seduced him,
39:14saying,
39:15Adam,
39:16shall I direct you to a tree of eternal life
39:19and an abiding kingdom?
39:43Then the two of them ate the fruit of that tree,
39:47and their shameful parts became revealed to each other,
39:51and they began to cover themselves with the leaves from the garden.
39:56Thus Adam disobeyed his lord and strayed into error.
40:13Thereafter,
40:14his lord exalted him,
40:16accepted his repentance,
40:18and bestowed guidance upon him.
40:22And said,
40:23get down, both of you,
40:25that is man and Satan,
40:28and be out of it,
40:29that is the prohibited thing of men.
40:32and said, Get down both of you, that is man and Satan, and be out of it, each of you shall
40:52be an enemy to the other. Henceforth, if there comes to you a guidance from me, then whosoever
40:59follows my guidance shall neither go astray nor suffer misery. But whosoever turns away
41:20from this admonition from me shall have a straightened life. We shall raise him blind
41:26on the Day of Resurrection, whereupon he will say, Lord, why have you raised me blind when
41:42I had sight in the world? He will say, Even so, I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I
41:56am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind.
42:03I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind.
42:15I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind.
42:26I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind.
42:35I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind.
42:47I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind.
42:57I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind. I am blind.
43:05Had it not been for a word that had already gone from your Lord,
43:10the decree of their destruction would have come to pass.
43:15So be patient with what they say, and glorify the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting.
43:24And be patient with what they say, and glorify the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting.
43:31So bear patiently with what they say.
43:36Glorify your Lord, praising Him before sunrise and before sunset, and in the watches of the night.
43:43And glorify Him, and at the ends of the day, that you may see His glory.
43:49And be patient with what they say, and glorify the praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting.
43:57And glorify Him, and at the ends of the day, that you may attain to happiness.
44:03Do not turn your eyes covetously towards the embellishments of worldly life that we have bestowed upon various kinds of people to test them.
44:33But the clean provision bestowed upon you by your Lord is better and more enduring.
44:40And enjoin prayer on your household, and do keep observing it.
44:59We do not ask you for any worldly provision. Rather, it is we who provide you, and ultimately, the pious will end up the best.
45:10They ask, why does he not bring us a miraculous sign from his Lord?
45:28Has there not come to them a book containing the teachings of the previous scriptures?
45:57Had we destroyed them through some calamity before His coming, they would have said,
46:02Our Lord, why did you not send any messenger to us that we might have followed your signs before being humbled and disgraced?
46:12Tell them, O Muhammad, everyone is waiting for his end. Wait then, and you will soon know who are the people of the right way and are rightly guided.
