00:46Just last July, Robert Mundoñedo was harassed by a fisherman in the Subic Sambales Sea,

00:55which is 60 nautical miles away from Bajo de Masinloc, a part of the West Philippine Sea.

01:02The Chinese Maritime Militia vessel was attacked while they were on a boat.

01:08My brother is resting.

01:11I didn't expect that a ship would come.

01:16It was close, Sir.

01:17We couldn't avoid it.

01:20Maybe we were already trapped.

01:22Then my brother, Sir, ran to the port of the boat.

01:27I thought he was still there.

01:28My second look, he was gone.

01:30He spent three days and three nights in the sea.

01:35Robert Mundoñedo said that his captains were not only fishermen.

01:40He was almost starving and dehydrated when he found his comrades.

01:47But until now, he still hasn't found his brother.

01:51I was thinking, Sir, maybe it's not the right time to be gone.

01:56I was just thinking of surviving.

01:58For the sake of our family.

02:00For the sake of our Coast Guard.

02:02If there is hope, we can go to my brother.

02:10Like Robert, Saldi Solera also experienced harassment from China

02:15when he bombed the water of the Chinese Coast Guard ship,

02:18their boat in Bajo de Masinloc in Zambales in 2021.

02:23This is the first time he experienced the so-called incident

02:27in more than three decades of fishing in the area.

02:30And with the strength of the boat, the tank they were using to cook even splashed into the sea.

02:35China Coast Guard was avoiding us.

02:37What I heard from them was, no peacing, no peacing.

02:43We couldn't do anything. We left.

02:46We were still trapped.

02:48We were trapped by two Chinese Coast Guard ships.

03:35the Coast Guard will also be there to protect the rights of our fishermen.

03:39More than 100 fishermen from the fishing communities of Subica, Santa Cruz, and Masinloc, Zambales

03:47have received assistance such as food packs and financial assistance.

03:51The two-day Congress of Fishermen for Peace and Prosperity

03:57held in Subic Municipal Gymnasium today.

04:13This is a big help for us fishermen.

04:16The National Security Council explained that it is not yet time for the Philippines

04:21to lend to its allies.

04:27as an additional force in the West Philippine Sea.

04:30We are not yet in a situation where we need to have escorts, for example, in the United States.

04:35But a decision was made to have a Joint Coast Guard Patrol.
