00:00Skuba Sorero and Coastal Cleanup of Therma Visayas, Inc. in Toledo City, Cebu, were successful.

00:08They were able to carry 400 bags of garbage.

00:11This is the story of Jesse Atienza of PTV Cebu.

00:17The volunteers carried their own bags for a mission.

00:21They need to remove the garbage from the sea and into the ocean of Barangay Bato.

00:31Among the volunteers, the two-month-old employee, Chrismer, was one of them.

00:36He said that he was surprised by the importance of nature because of this activity.

00:41Actually, it's a relief and a feeling.

00:46What did you get, sir?

00:48Mostly, sir. Mostly, sir. Plastics.

00:53Balls.

00:56So, usually, sir.

00:58Why, sir?

00:59Plastics.

01:03You can see here in front of me.

01:07The volunteers are helping each other to get the garbage.

01:12There's a lot of garbage stuck here in the big rocks.

01:19They said that most of what they got are plastic materials, garbage.

01:26That's why they really need to make an effort to get the garbage because it's under the rocks.

01:38Even under the sea, there's garbage that they got.

01:41But the good news is that the garbage that they got is less compared to what they got 100 years ago.

01:47It's something that the LGU is happy about.

01:50I'm very happy to see many corals now. Some baby corals.

01:55What does it mean, sir, if there are those kinds of sea creatures?

01:59It means that the area is very well protected and at the same time, it's very good for them to thrive.

02:05And to think that it's in front of you.

02:07Yes, it's in front of TVI.

02:11It's coal generated.

02:13But still, if they just see what's in there, it's like a small sanctuary.

02:18Our objective is to be responsible in terms of cleaning up our sea.

02:27But at the same time, create awareness among our people that there's a way to be responsible

02:35and there's a way to create impact to the community and to the environment.

02:41It's not just about cleaning up.

02:46It's more on creating awareness to the rest of the community.

02:52TVI and the rest of the community is doing this one, investing their time, investing their resources.

02:59And we created it.

03:01It's about time for us to be responsible in terms of solid waste management.

03:06Cleanup Drive is part of the sustainability projects of Therma Visayas Incorporated

03:12that provides 340 megawatts of power supply to the entire Visayas grid.
