00:31in this competition and it's happening at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium which is hosting

00:35its 250th One Day International. Well we were out in the middle not so long ago, the toss

00:40happened and it was Aiden Markram who won that toss and decided that after winning South

00:45Africa would have a bat first which seemed like the right decision. When you had a look

00:49at the surface it looked like it was going to play really well and maybe would offer

00:54a little bit of assistance and maybe skid down and keep it a little bit low as the match

00:57went on. But in general, newly laid 12 months ago it was predicted to be a really good surface.

01:03South Africa, well they made a few changes. Some of their big stars not here. De Zorzi,

01:06Hendrix at the top of the order, Markram, Stubbs coming in at 3 and 4, Varenda, Jason

01:11Smith was the man making his debut and in the bowling attack of Mulder, Petlacoir, Fortain,

01:16Berger and the experience of Ngiri. For Afghanistan, Abraham was missing obviously through injury

01:23and Gerbaz, Hossain at the top of their row mat, Ashmatullah, Nabi, Hamza, Galbadin, Rashid,

01:30the youngster Govindan Deva, Faruqi and Karuti was the bowling attack that they were deciding to use.

01:39As mentioned the surface was looked like it was going to be pretty good and when we had a look

01:43at it was newly laid 12 months ago and it looked in pristine condition. The nature of the surface

01:48here, in charge it tends to be one that stays a little bit low and the ball tends to skid through

01:53so that was maybe going to suit the guys who bowled wicket to wicket and maybe offer some

01:57assistance for the spinners particularly as the game goes on. So that was the team news, that was

11:03Well, it didn't prove to be that difficult a task for Afghanistan.

11:10They had a bit of a stutter at the start.

11:12I thought Ngidi and Berger were superb with the new ball,

11:16and then Fratein, once he was introduced, he played his part.

11:18And you can see four quick wickets fall quickly,

11:20but then a wonderful partnership by Almazar and Goberdin

11:23made that sure that everything was steadied and everything was calmed down.

11:26And they got home comfortably, just 26 overs, getting to the 107 that was required.

11:31Good bowling there by Ngidi up front.

11:32Four overs, one for six.

11:33And as I said, Fratein was pretty impressive with his two wickets of his nine overs.

11:44And then Afghanistan, after a little bit of a jitter up front,

11:47using a few wickets, were comfortable in the end.

11:52and winning the match by six wickets.

11:55A fantastic historic occasion for Afghanistan,

11:58winning their first one international against the lack of South Africa.
