00:41It has to be kept clean both from inside as well as from outside.
00:48Houses can be built with different materials like cement, bricks, hay and bamboo.

01:16In some areas, houses are made of straw and mud.
01:22Such houses are called huts.
01:26In really cold places, people make houses out of ice.
01:33Such houses are known as igloos.
01:38Permanent houses are built with cement and bricks.
01:44Some people don't live in one place for very long.
01:50They keep moving from place to place.
01:55They make houses which can easily be shifted.

02:16People make their houses in different ways.
02:21The climate and weather of a place plays an important role in the kind of houses we build.
02:30In mountainous regions, people make houses with sloping roofs so that the rainwater and snow can slide down easily.

03:04Requirements of a Good House
03:08A house may be big or small.
03:15But it should be built in such a way that it lets in enough sunlight.
03:25It should have windows and a good ventilation system which allows fresh air to enter.
03:38It should have proper drainage system to carry dirty water away from the house.
03:48There should not be any open drains around the house.
03:56Our house should be kept clean at all times.

04:11This will protect it from insects like ants and termites and moisture.
04:20Clothing
04:22We wear clothes to protect ourselves from the heat, cold, rain and mosquitoes.
04:32We wear different kinds of clothes at different times of the year.
04:41Light cotton clothes keep us cool when it is hot.
04:47Woolen clothes keep us warm when it is cold.
04:53Very heavy woolen clothes, leather jackets and coats keep us warm when it is very cold and snowing.
05:06We wear a raincoat over our clothes to protect us from the rain.
05:13Unlike us all, animals have natural clothes in the form of their skin or fur to protect themselves from weather conditions.
05:27For example, the polar bear and the polar dogs have a very thick layer of fur to protect them from the cold.
05:38Fish have a slimy skin.
05:41Seals have a layer of blubber.
05:49Care of Clothes
05:52Sweat and dust spoils our clothes.
05:58So we must wash our clothes with soap.
06:04Woolen and silk clothes should be kept in a cupboard, wrapped up in cotton cloth.
06:13Place naphthalene balls or dried neem leaves to keep insects like silver fish away.
06:23We should maintain our clothes well, so that we can use them for a long time.
06:33Remember, a house gives us shelter and keeps us with our family.
