Blinken promises Ukraine more weapons in fight against Russia
Antony Blinken and David Lammy met top officials in Kyiv on Wednesday, a visit that President Zelenskiy said he hoped would yield "strong" new decisions to support Ukraine.

With Kyiv at a critical juncture in its struggle against Russia, Blinken has said he wants to hear directly from Zelenskiy and others what Kyiv's goals in the war are and what Washington can do to help it achieve them.

00:00with an expansion of attacks from Russia,
00:05pummeling Ukrainian cities, citizens, infrastructure,
00:10with monstrous brutality.
00:12And now Putin's further empowering his aggression
00:15with the acquisition of Iranian ballistic missiles.
00:18So we're working with urgency to continue to ensure that Ukraine
00:21has what it needs to effectively defend itself.
00:24This response is in keeping with our commitment
00:27to remain Ukraine's staunchest friend.
00:31And I'm proud of that commitment.
00:33I'm proud of Prime Minister Stalin's commitment
00:35to provide $3 billion in military aid every year
00:39that is needed in your fight.
00:42And today I can confirm more than $600 million worth of support
00:49for Ukraine, including $242 million this financial year
00:54for immediate humanitarian, energy, and stabilization needs,
00:59as well as support for reform, recovery, and reconstruction.
01:05We have adjusted and adapted as needs have changed,
01:09as the battlefield has changed, and I have no doubt
01:12that we'll continue to do that as this evolves.
01:16You referenced escalation.
01:19Of course, that's one of the factors that we always consider,
01:21but it's certainly not the only factor,
01:25and it's not necessarily a dispositive factor.
01:31We have provided, as you know, extraordinary support to Ukraine
01:36over more than two years, not just training, not just money,
01:43but among our most sophisticated weapons systems,
01:46again, tied to what their needs are,
01:48tied to what can make them most effective.
