The US has charged and sanctioned multiple Russian state media executives and restricted Kremlin-linked broadcasters as it accused Moscow of a widespread campaign to interfere with the November presidential election.

Attorney General Merrick Garland accused RT, formerly Russia Today, of funding a Tennessee-based company in "a $10m scheme to create and distribute content to US audiences with hidden Russian government messaging".
