00:00:29I'm Marlon Hopkinson
00:00:30Welcome to The Morning Edition
00:00:31It's Wednesday, 4th September
00:00:33and thank you very much for joining us

00:00:39because we all need that
00:00:41I hope that your night was very, very good
00:00:43Did we have rain last night?
00:00:45No, we didn't have any rain last night
00:00:46so it was a good night, right?
00:00:50I can't say
00:00:51I can't say what studio is telling me
00:00:53That's an inside joke
00:00:55You know how they're saying these days
00:00:56If you know, you know
00:00:57Yeah, alright
00:00:58So, a very special good morning to all of you
00:01:01and thank you very much for joining us this morning
00:01:02Let's check out to see what's in the Daily Express
00:01:05On the front page today
00:01:06Gatsby Dolly admits inadequate school repairs
00:01:09Education Ministry experiencing severe cash flow issues
00:01:15I want to ask the goodly minister this morning
00:01:18Wouldn't it have been, Madam Minister
00:01:23more prudent to say this about two months ago
00:01:26and say to the ladies and gentlemen in tutor
00:01:29and the NPTA and other stakeholders
00:01:32Look, we are experiencing severe problems
00:01:35but the Education Ministry is doing all in its power
00:01:39so that you have a smooth reopening of schools in September
00:01:44instead of what has been happening over the past few weeks
00:01:48Right?
00:01:49It may have been a little more prudent, Madam Minister
00:01:53Alright?
00:01:54So, money is the problem
00:01:56Alright?
00:01:57And you remember the lady that I spoke to you all about yesterday
00:02:00That's the lady on the front page this morning
00:02:02Woman, 61, found dead in Arema
00:02:06Let me just touch a little bit on it
00:02:08Death of loving mom
00:02:09Leaves neighbors shaken
00:02:11Found with pillow over face
00:02:1361-year-old Hyacinth Danclair
00:02:16was a loving mother and an avid gardener
00:02:19You heard a clip earlier
00:02:20where the gentleman would have said
00:02:22she's a very, very nice lady
00:02:24I don't know the lady, you know
00:02:25But as I look at the lady
00:02:27you know, you're seeing good on the lady's face
00:02:30That is what I'm seeing here
00:02:33So, tell me
00:02:3461 years
00:02:35Alright?
00:02:36She may, I don't know if she still works
00:02:39or she is a retiree
00:02:41So, the lady can't stay in her home
00:02:44and enjoy her life
00:02:46and look at her little television
00:02:48and think about the next trip that she is going on and so on
00:02:51She can't do that
00:02:53All you need to take away that from the lady
00:02:58Ah, boy
00:02:59Alright
00:03:00We're moving on
00:03:01Let's stay on that page
00:03:02Prince's Town School on shift system for 10 years
00:03:07What kind of mad?
00:03:08This is true?
00:03:10This is true?
00:03:11Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait
00:03:13Let's go to the fifth page
00:03:15No change at Prince's Town School
00:03:1810 years on shift system
00:03:20Didn't we get rid of the shift system?
00:03:23We didn't?
00:03:24I think we did get rid of the shift system
00:03:27Yet children have completed 7 years as students
00:03:30of Prince's Town No. 1 Presbyterian School
00:03:33but have never set foot inside the school building
00:03:36This is because classes were temporarily relocated
00:03:39to Prince's Town No. 2 Presbyterian School
00:03:4110 years ago on a shift system
00:03:44And as we look through the newspaper
00:03:46problems at Five Rivers, around where schools
00:03:49So, yeah, a myriad of problems affecting schools
00:03:53in Trinidad and Tobago
00:03:55Alright, we're moving on to the back page now
00:03:57Uproar at market
00:03:58Sando vendors, workers protest
00:04:00after woman stabbed San Fernando market vendors
00:04:03and workers took to the market's entrance yesterday morning
00:04:06The protest, what we described as police neglect
00:04:09of the Mucorapo Street facility
00:04:11after one of its workers was stabbed on Sunday morning
00:04:15And let me just shed a light on what has been happening
00:04:18at these markets all across the country
00:04:21You see that gentleman who would have spoken
00:04:23about the situation at that market
00:04:25That is happening at other markets in Trinidad and Tobago
00:04:28As someone said earlier to me
00:04:30It's what it is
00:04:31It's a battleground now
00:04:33When you're going into these markets
00:04:35it's a battleground
00:04:36You have the sale of drugs
00:04:38You have all sorts of things
00:04:40when you're going into those markets
00:04:42Your life is at risk, I can tell you
00:04:44And the data will show you that sometimes
00:04:47what happens at these markets
00:04:49Alright, we're moving on to some sport
00:04:51Triumphant under 17 boys
00:04:53Cricket coach admits much work to do
00:04:56Ernil Ryan is pleased and happy
00:04:58that his players won the West Indies Rising Stars
00:05:01Men's under 17 50 overs championship

00:09:21Why we don't put some of these kind of zoos on the school curriculum boy?
00:09:25Why we don't put that in the school boy?
00:09:28Why we don't have a competition every year where we can have the young people
00:09:32Do these songs, do their own rendition of these songs boy
00:09:36You don't think that would be a benefit to people boy?
00:09:39You hear what David Rudder is singing there?
00:09:41You don't think for a young person that would make sense and that could motivate and inspire?
00:09:48Well then think about it now, think about it, you know?
00:09:51Alright, so the country's nurses are again raising concerns about the health sector
00:09:55However yesterday the president of the National Nursing Association, A.D. Stewart
00:09:59Met face to face with Health Minister Terence D. Alsing
00:10:02To express the issues that his members continue to deal with
00:10:06Mr. Stewart is on the line this morning
00:10:08A.D., good morning and thank you very much for joining us
00:10:11Pleasure and morning for having me, pleasant morning to your listeners
00:10:15Yeah, well I know A.D. because of our many discussions in the past
00:10:20A number of issues you would have raised in the past
00:10:23And you got the opportunity as I said earlier to meet with the minister
00:10:27Face to face yesterday
00:10:32What happened at the meeting?
00:10:36Well firstly, we appreciate having the meeting with the Minister of Health
00:10:42And also it was a very extensive meeting, it was over four hours long
00:10:50And we also had the opportunity to have several of the CEOs of the RHEs within Trinidad
00:10:58And some of the chairmen and some of the technocrats within ministry
00:11:02So it was, I would say it was a 50-50 in terms of results coming out of the meeting
00:11:09By and large we will give assurance on a number of the points we would have raised
00:11:15With the minister, would be looked at by the RHE officials and also the ministry officials
00:11:21Now what did we go to achieve?
00:11:23One of the primary objectives we sought to achieve
00:11:28Was the establishment of the Health Sector Accreditation Council
00:11:34Which would require the return of the Health Sector Accreditation Bill to Parliament
00:11:41A bill last laid in Parliament in 2013
00:11:46And significant work has been done on this bill by both sides of government
00:11:54Both opposition and government when they were in government at the point in time
00:11:58And we really found it strange that no progress has been made since 2013
00:12:04Ministers of Health in the past, both Colin Pimbutt, Honourable Minister of Health
00:12:10When he was Minister of Health and then Dr Fordham
00:12:13Saw the importance of establishing an authority to regulate and monitor and ensure
00:12:21All healthcare facilities within Trinidad and Tobago
00:12:25Are properly monitored to prevent some of the shortcomings we are seeing here today
00:12:33Some of the shortcomings we pointed out in the recent PAHO report
00:12:38And to the deaths of those eight babies in NICU
00:12:42So that's why we didn't want to plaster any soil
00:12:45We wanted a comprehensive solution to the problems the PAHO report identified
00:12:52Some of those problems, appropriate bed spacing
00:12:55Policies and procedures were inadequate
00:12:58Policies and procedures for the operating theatre were not done
00:13:05Surveillance was not done
00:13:07External performance evaluation was not performed
00:13:10And the list of issues was long
00:13:13The reason why this was allowed to happen at Port of Spain General Hospital NICU
00:13:18And all other facilities throughout Trinidad and Tobago
00:13:22Is that you do not have this external body to monitor and regulate
00:13:26Similar and akin to the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago
00:13:30Which you cannot operate an educational facility
00:13:35Both secondary and tertiary educational facilities
00:13:38You are not allowed to operate in Trinidad and Tobago
00:13:42Without that organization allowing you, giving you the license to operate
00:13:48And we're saying the same thing must happen if it's good for education
00:13:51Then obviously it must be good for healthcare
00:13:54Let's speak a little bit about this external body that you're speaking about
00:13:58Let's talk a little bit about the makeup of this body
00:14:01And the objective of this body
00:14:04Of course you would have spoken about monitoring
00:14:07So if we could, could you shed some more light on those two issues?
00:14:12Well to begin with the body hasn't been set up as yet
00:14:17Unfortunately this body should have been set up since health sector reform
00:14:22Since 1994-1995 with health sector reform
00:14:27This was one of the key elements we were supposed to set up
00:14:32This loan we took from the IDB to do health sector reform
00:14:36To move service delivery away from the Ministry of Health
00:14:42To the RHEs, allow the Ministry of Health to do regulation
00:14:47To restructure health sector financing
00:14:50It's a major issue
00:14:52We were supposed to restructure the whole NIS system
00:14:56Into a national health insurance system
00:14:59So there was a number of layers, about six layers that were supposed to be done
00:15:03All we did unfortunately was decentralize
00:15:06Create five regional health authorities
00:15:09With five chairmen and five boards
00:15:12And five upper level management
00:15:15All we did was floating administrative level
00:15:19And we have not seen, the reason why we have not seen
00:15:22The gains we ought to have seen since health sector reform
00:15:26Since 1994
00:15:28It is because we didn't put all the other structures
00:15:31And one of those structures was the health sector accreditation
00:15:35Now the ministry officials did indicate
00:15:38That they would look at where we are now
00:15:42Since the association has brought this to light
00:15:45They did indicate they would look at it
00:15:47They have already started the process
00:15:50With going out for a director of quality
00:15:54Once that person is employed
00:15:57Because they are still going to that position
00:15:59Once that person is employed
00:16:01That person would be tasked
00:16:04With reviewing where the bill is at court
00:16:07And then go forward and make recommendations
00:16:10It has been in excess
00:16:13It was since 2013, so in excess of 11 years
00:16:16A lot has changed over that time
00:16:19So they would now have to make recommendations
00:16:22But sadly, coming out of that
00:16:25While we are thankful for that information
00:16:28Sadly, they are seeing that this
00:16:31May not reach on the legislative framework
00:16:34Going forward
00:16:37Because the prime minister has already set his legislative agenda
00:16:40For the remainder of the year
00:16:43However, the association is not going to let up
00:16:46As though we don't let up
00:16:49We want this enacted
00:16:52We don't want to wait for our next government coming into office
00:16:55We don't want to be in the luxury of five years
00:16:58And not taking this important body
00:17:01Regulatory body
00:17:04At heart
00:17:07We would want this government to do it
00:17:10Another major issue we brought was
00:17:13News retention strategies
00:17:16Finally, after much to win and throwing
00:17:19I think everyone, both on the government side
00:17:22And the association
00:17:25Is on the same page
00:17:28Acknowledging that we have a shortage of news
00:17:31They did not refute that statement
00:17:34So we ought not to hear
00:17:37Going forward
00:17:40Any discussion
00:17:43Doubting if we have a shortage of news
00:17:46This was highlighted in the power report
00:17:49By the Joint Select Committee of Parliament
00:17:52When the CEOs themselves said they were finding it difficult
00:17:55To fill vacancies
00:17:58Nursing personnel vacancies
00:18:01Before you move on
00:18:04How acute is the nurses shortage situation
00:18:07In Trinidad and Tobago?
00:18:10We have an excess of 2,000 nursing personnel
00:18:13And let me say
00:18:16We pointed out that to the military
00:18:19Especially in the areas of the specialist trained
00:18:22Nursing personnel
00:18:25Those are your ICU nurses, your theatre nurses
00:18:28Your emergency department nurses
00:18:31It is going to get even worse
00:18:34Because as we speak
00:18:37We have no school creating our specialist nurses
00:18:40As we speak
00:18:43We are doing that
00:18:46By the Ministry of Education
00:18:49It has been inundated with programs currently
00:18:52They have been asked to do the nursing assistant program
00:18:55They have been asked to do the patient care system program
00:18:58For what reason?
00:19:01I have no idea why the Ministry of Education
00:19:04Would have approached them
00:19:07To do another lower level course
00:19:10The staff of our specialist trained
00:19:13Is going to really get
00:19:16Because those persons
00:19:19Those specialist nurses
00:19:22Those are the first persons
00:19:25The international recruiters
00:19:28Replace them
00:19:31We are really in for a tough time
00:19:34As a country
00:19:37What we are doing yesterday
00:19:40Is to correct those deficiencies
00:19:43The national administrator for nursing services
00:19:46And the schools have been tasked
00:19:49To really address those problems
00:19:52So we look forward for some tangible
00:19:55And meaningful contributions
00:19:58Going forward
00:20:01At the beginning of our discussion
00:20:04I would like to say
00:20:07I would like to say
00:20:10I would like to say
00:20:13I would like to say

00:30:25By nature, I'm an optimistic person.
00:30:29However, I came away with the bulk of the issues
00:30:37are being placed at the feet of the CPO.
00:30:41And it's the almost, the CPO is to blame as it will
00:30:46for some of these deficiencies.
00:30:48And we would want to refute that
00:30:50because the employer of the CPO is the very government.
00:30:54And the same way, for instance, motor vehicle tax exemption
00:30:58have been removed from traveling officers,
00:31:01nursing personnel, district health visitors,
00:31:04because this is why I want to know
00:31:06why we don't see district health visitors
00:31:08in the community anymore, picking up on persons.
00:31:11District health visitor have been denied
00:31:14motor vehicle tax exemption.
00:31:16I'll benefit every single alimentarian has.
00:31:19Nursing personnel are required to have a vehicle

00:31:27They, the folks who cannot do your job in the field
00:31:30if you don't have a vehicle, as a district health,
00:31:32you cannot do it.
00:31:33But so you are telling me I must use my vehicle,
00:31:38but you will not compensate me for using my vehicle.
00:31:41And the only compensation is a motor vehicle tax exemption.
00:31:44A benefit, the CPO took away back in 2015,
00:31:50took away that benefit because they're saying
00:31:52we are no longer public servants.
00:31:55We, the benefits that public servants enjoy,
00:31:58that motor vehicle tax exemption is a traveling officer.
00:32:02We will take that away from you.
00:32:03You are contracting workers with a statutory authority.
00:32:07And now you can no longer benefit from that.
00:32:10However, doctors are more important than nurses.
00:32:15So we will give the doctors that benefit.
00:32:16We allow doctors to have that motor vehicle tax exemption.
00:32:19That is the kind of craziness that is going on right now.
00:32:22So we would be visiting places like the CPO,
00:32:25the Ministry of Health, the RHAs in a very robust manner.
00:32:29And we would not want the public to see
00:32:32why nursing association is doing this now.
00:32:35Why nurses are walking off the board.

00:33:05For what is important to them.
00:33:08And apparently what is important to them now

00:33:49before something like that happens.
00:33:51But what should be done in the interim
00:33:54as it relates to accountability and management at the RHAs?
00:34:00Well, we, the National Nursing Association of Trinidad and Tobago
00:34:04are going to be holding those RHAs to account.
00:34:08We would be rating them on a yearly basis
00:34:12after going out and eliciting information from the public
00:34:16and getting information from our members on the ground
00:34:19and rate these RHAs.

00:39:46And companies bid to decide whether or not
00:39:49they could do some exploration work
00:39:51within different areas in the country.
00:39:54And in 2014, a Canadian company called Touchstone Exploration,
00:39:58they won the bid for the Ottawa block.
00:40:01Now, Ottawa is in the south-east portion
00:40:04of Toronto and Tobago, right?
00:40:06So Touchstone wins this bid.
00:40:07They are the operator, they own 80%.
00:40:11The other 20%, this is 2014,

00:40:24They drilled three prospects,

00:40:29and the third is Cascadero.
00:40:31Each one have the different levels of success,

00:40:38They did some exploration work, seismic work and so on
00:40:41to determine what is the potential for Cascadero,
00:40:45the same good potential for Cascadero.
00:40:48Fast forward to last year, September.
00:40:51September the 6th, 2023,
00:40:53they finally achieved first gas in the Cascadero area.
00:40:58Things are looking bright.
00:41:00And not just first gas,
00:41:01what they're saying is that Cascadero is going to be,
00:41:04now all this is onshore, right?
00:41:06So this is onshore, Southeast Trinidad and Tobago.
00:41:09Cascadero is a mark to be like,
00:41:12arguably one of the largest finds onshore Trinidad and Tobago
00:41:17and things are looking up.
00:41:19This is September 6th, 2023.
00:41:23Touchstone does the financials.
00:41:25Obviously, the first quarter of the year ends in March
00:41:29and they're seeing the benefits of Cascadero.
00:41:32And when you compare the benefits of Cascadero,
00:41:35March, 2024 to March, 2023,
00:41:39vastly different because they're getting production.
00:41:43They're getting oil and gas coming out of this field.
00:41:46Everything is looking rosy at this point in time.
00:41:50Unfortunately, now which leads us to our story today.
00:41:53So you know, you see the potential for Cascadero

00:41:59So that is March, 2024.
00:42:02Touchstone has now released their financials
00:42:05for the end of June, 2024.
00:42:07And while at the end of March, 2024,

00:42:25where it says that between March, 2024
00:42:28and the end of June,
00:42:30so the first quarter versus the second quarter results
00:42:33is a 23% drop overall in terms of the production.

00:43:06not saying that this hope is gone now,
00:43:09but you're just saying that looking at the situation
00:43:12and as a result of that, Touchstone now has to make changes.
00:43:17So they would have had plans before, as I mentioned,
00:43:20they would have had three prospects,
00:43:22Cascadero, Coho, Chinook.
00:43:24They initially intended to drill two wells in Coho
00:43:29for further production.
00:43:31Now they're saying, with the issues with Cascadero,
00:43:34they now have to change gear, course correct.
00:43:38So they're now going to drill two further wells
00:43:40in Cascadero to try and see if they're able
00:43:42to boost production, to recoup.
00:43:46And apart from that, different things change.
00:43:51So when they saw the potential for Cascadero,
00:43:55initially, you know, you would have determined
00:43:58like this is the way to go.
00:43:59This is what we anticipate we'll get from it.
00:44:02This is what we anticipate, not just into production,
00:44:05but in terms of financially.
00:44:07Now they have to change.
00:44:09A realignment of priorities.
00:44:10A realignment.
00:44:11So that is the gist of our story today.
00:44:14We have Cascadero, Touchstone.
00:44:16We're not saying that this is the be all and end all,
00:44:18or this is the end of the road for Cascadero.
00:44:20We're just highlighting that Touchstone now
00:44:22has the course correct.
00:44:23And as you rightfully said, Marlon, realign priorities
00:44:26in terms of what they're going to do with Cascadero,
00:44:29even kind of putting Coho on the back burner
00:44:32for a little while, and even Chinook to a lesser extent.
00:44:36You know, so that is the lead story
00:44:39for today's Business Express.
00:44:42Yeah, all right.
00:44:44We do have a lot more to discuss, Joanne.
00:44:45We have a lot more.
00:44:46One of the things that I want to segue into,
00:44:49seeing that we talk about the energy industry.
00:44:51Yes.
00:44:52We're seeing a lot of changes in the landscape
00:44:55in terms of energy.
00:44:56And one of the things that would have taken place
00:44:58on August 31st, Independence Day,
00:45:00is the official departure of Mark Lukwan
00:45:03from the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago.
00:45:06Now, Mark Lukwan would have been in that position
00:45:09for eight years.
00:45:11You know, so we know of Mr. Lukwan.
00:45:15Unfortunately, Mr. Lukwan, so in January,
00:45:19NGC would have sent out a release saying,
00:45:21okay, Mr. Lukwan is not going to take up his contract.
00:45:26He's not going to extend his contract at the end of August.
00:45:28So we will start looking for a replacement.
00:45:31That was January.
00:45:33Unfortunately, in February, we find out,
00:45:36or Mr. Lukwan finds out that he is diagnosed
00:45:39with brain cancer.
00:45:41And, you know, so we have February to August.
00:45:45Now, Mr. Lukwan seems to be doing better.
00:45:49He's going through chemo and stuff like that.
00:45:51I know from express business, you know,
00:45:53at the end of the day, you know,
00:45:54when you speak to people like that,
00:45:56and you have this level of professional relationship
00:45:58like that, you know, you wish Mr. Lukwan the best.
00:46:01And we also wanted to highlight the search
00:46:04for a replacement for Mr. Lukwan.
00:46:06So that is one of the stories that we also have
00:46:07in today's magazine.
00:46:09As it stands now, what NGC, they haven't found
00:46:13an official replacement for Mr. Lukwan as yet,
00:46:15but they have three vice presidents
00:46:17who are members in the organization.
00:46:19So what they've decided to do is do like sort of rotation
00:46:22in terms of the vice presidents.
00:46:25So at this point in time, there's a vice president
00:46:27that's holding on for Mr. Lukwan.
00:46:29But as I said, from express business, you know,
00:46:33at the end of the day, we are all humans
00:46:35and we really wish Mr. Lukwan the best.
00:46:38He has been at the helm of this major organization,
00:46:40this major state owned organization for eight years.
00:46:43And even apart from that, you know,
00:46:45he is also a part of the cultural landscape
00:46:48and enjoy his culture and his pan.
00:46:50So, you know, just want to segue in seeing that we focus
00:46:53on started off with the conversation of energy,
00:46:56just kind of segue into that and wish Mr. Lukwan
00:46:58the best of health and...
00:47:00In fact, Joel, the first time I heard about Mr. Lukwan
00:47:04was through Pan.
00:47:06And when I, so when I heard that Lukwan was, you know,
00:47:11heading NGC, I was like, the Pan man, right?
00:47:15But Mr. Lukwan, we wish you all the best.
00:47:17Because Mr. Lukwan has been one,
00:47:19I know when a media personnel approach him to speak,
00:47:23he would always speak and he's that kind of person, right?
00:47:27But I'm shocked to see here that he has worked
00:47:29in the energy industry for 40 years.
00:47:32That's a long haul.
00:47:34You don't look that way, Mr. Lukwan,
00:47:35you look younger than that.
00:47:38But yeah, he has a lot, a lot of experience.
00:47:40So we wish him all the best in his future endeavors
00:47:43and we'll see if he returns, right?
00:47:47Not only maybe to NGC, but the industry.
00:47:50Yeah, and probably like in terms of consultancy
00:47:53and different avenues, right?
00:47:56Just in the vein, as I said, as I always try to say,
00:47:58you know, this is our flagship product, the magazine.
00:48:02But apart from the magazine, the Express Business Team,
00:48:05we are part of a larger team,
00:48:07which is the Express Newsroom.
00:48:09And some of the things that we have taking place,
00:48:12we see some changes within the business landscape.
00:48:16So between Sunday to today,
00:48:19we would have seen Vashti Gayadeen being appointed
00:48:21the Chief Executive Officer of the TNT Chamber.
00:48:24Now, Ms. Gayadeen is replacing,
00:48:29gosh, his name has slipped me at this point in time.
00:48:32So Ms. Gayadeen is now the Chief Executive Officer
00:48:34of the TNT Chamber.
00:48:35And previously, her job was the Chief Executive Officer
00:48:39of the Trinidad and Tobago Coalition of Services Industries.
00:48:42She is now being replaced by Mr. Darren Leesing.
00:48:46So Darren is now the Chief Executive Officer of TTCSI.
00:48:49And also we have RBC Royal Bank, Trinidad and Tobago
00:48:53announcing that Mr. Mark Jardine
00:48:55is now their Managing Director.
00:48:58So we see some changes within the business landscape
00:49:00of Trinidad and Tobago.
00:49:01Some familiar faces,
00:49:03but in different positions and portfolios.
00:49:06One of the persons that has also been changing,
00:49:09one of the changes that we have also seen
00:49:11is in Nestle, Trinidad.
00:49:13So you know, if you're from the East, you're driving,
00:49:14you're taking that traffic from East to Port of Spade,
00:49:18you know Nestle on the right-hand side of the highway.
00:49:21The white building.
00:49:21The big white building with the tanks
00:49:24that when I was younger,
00:49:25I used to take was filled with condensed milk.
00:49:27Yeah, yeah.
00:49:28That's a different story.
00:49:29With the chimney.
00:49:30Right, so we have leaving Nestle,
00:49:34as the head of Nestle locally in Trinidad and Tobago,
00:49:37is Mr. Eduardo Garcia Polaris.
00:49:40And he is now going to move on
00:49:42to a different portfolio within Nestle.
00:49:44But as his sort of exit interview,
00:49:48for want of a better term,
00:49:49with Express Business,
00:49:51he said, I don't want to spoke about
00:49:52what the plans are for Nestle
00:49:54and what he would have achieved
00:49:56during his period of time here.
00:49:58And what Nestle is saying
00:49:59is that there are two things basically they're focusing on.
00:50:02One, sustainability,
00:50:04and also the use of technology.
00:50:08So in terms of the use of technology,
00:50:10they're trying to just look at a way
00:50:11to better manage their products.
00:50:13So they're showing that they could see the shipment,
00:50:17let's say coming from China
00:50:19to us here in the Caribbean region.
00:50:23And so you can actually follow the parts
00:50:26of your food and stuff like that.
00:50:28The products that they are importing.
00:50:32And also in terms of sustainability,
00:50:33one of the things that Nestle would have introduced
00:50:35a few years back was the paper straw.
00:50:40Now that paper straw has seen four different iterations
00:50:44and it is talking about like different ways
00:50:48to try and be sustainable.
00:50:51Because one of the conversations that we have globally
00:50:53is removing from like these greenhouse gas emissions
00:50:58and being better for the environment.
00:51:01So that is one of the conversations
00:51:03that my colleague, Vishana Park,
00:51:04who has today, speaking to the outgoing head
00:51:08of Nestle, Trinidad and Tobago,
00:51:09Mr. Eduardo Garcia Palares.
00:51:12And we also wish him the best going forward.
00:51:14And Mr. Alexander Moyo is supposed to be coming in
00:51:17as a new head.
00:51:18And we will also be having an interview with him
00:51:21in a short time, hopefully,
00:51:23to determine what his future is
00:51:24or what he deems is the path
00:51:27that Nestle will be taking locally
00:51:30and within the Caribbean region itself
00:51:33and in Latin America.
00:51:35Now, getting back to the paper straws,
00:51:36I am all for the environment
00:51:39and I understand why certain companies
00:51:41would have done that.
00:51:42But to me, I don't know for you
00:51:44and I don't know for our viewers,
00:51:46but it changes the taste of the product, yeah?
00:51:50So you have to, if you want to continue along this path,
00:51:53and I have no problem with that,
00:51:55but to me, it must not impact the product at all.
00:52:00It must be a cleaner tasting,
00:52:03it must be a cleaner taste, right?
00:52:06So, you know, continue with your straws,
00:52:09but you know, I want to just some better taste.
00:52:11That's all, that's all I'm saying.
00:52:12Go ahead, Joel.
00:52:14All right, one of the interesting stories we have today
00:52:17is, you know, the UNDP.
00:52:19The UNDP, they have different programs
00:52:24that they initiate globally, locally, and so on.
00:52:28And one of the programs that my colleague,
00:52:29Vishal Nopaku, refers to today
00:52:33is UNDP is working alongside the differently abled,
00:52:39individuals with disabilities.
00:52:41And trying to find better ways for them to earn income.
00:52:45So they are teaching in terms of agriculture,
00:52:49how to grow agriculture, produce agriculture,
00:52:52cultivate and so on.
00:52:54But interestingly also,
00:52:56they're doing the use of 3D printers.
00:52:59So teaching them how to utilize these 3D printers
00:53:01to make things like jewelry and other products
00:53:03that they could also sell.
00:53:05And I found that interesting, you know,
00:53:07to be able to, and the whole thrust of sustainability
00:53:10and being self-sufficient.
00:53:12You know, being able to introduce this sort of program
00:53:15to help persons create different things
00:53:18and different avenues to create interesting things.
00:53:21And one of the things that Vishal would have looked at
00:53:24is the creation of a earring, like a steel pan earring.
00:53:27Yes.
00:53:27Using a 3D printer.
00:53:29So that's also one of the stories
00:53:30that don't have the time to really delve into it.
00:53:33But I think it's an interesting read
00:53:35and I think it's an interesting concept.
00:53:37And, you know, just looking at the whole process of,
00:53:40we all deserve to be self-sufficient.
00:53:42You know, we all deserve to be in a place where
00:53:44you could not just be dependent on people,
00:53:47but have this level of independence.
00:53:50You know, so I thought that's an interesting idea,
00:53:52interesting program.
00:53:53So that's one of the things that we also highlight today.
00:53:56You know, in other parts of the world,
00:53:58they're making meat with 3D printers.
00:54:02All you're going to need that, 3D meat,
00:54:043D goat and 3D chicken.
00:54:07Yeah.
00:54:08Yeah.
00:54:10Joel, always good to see you and speak with you.
00:54:12Thank you very much.
00:54:13Thank you very much.
00:54:14All in the express business today.
00:54:16Everybody get a copy.
00:54:18All right.
00:54:19So we are going to a very short break.
00:54:20We're coming back, everybody.
00:54:22Look, you better recognize you should be ashamed.
00:54:26Last night you were winning, but you lost the game.
00:54:30Whisper in my ear, I'm calling the wrong name.
00:54:33What?
00:54:34Who the hell is Kim?
00:54:36What foolishness you talking?
00:54:38You better check yourself and go and check your health.
00:54:42Better follow for a ride to pick up your things outside.
00:54:46So long, my friend, it's all your fault.

00:57:30An autopsy is expected to be done today
00:57:33on the body of 61-year-old Hyacinth Danclair.
00:57:37Police say Danclair was found dead at her Arima home on Monday afternoon
00:57:42with a pillow over her face and blood on her lower torso.
00:57:47Neighbours are hoping police will get to the bottom of what happened.
00:57:51Very, very nice lady.
00:57:53A very nice lady.
00:57:55Since I meet the people, you know, nice ladies come out here
00:57:58to see about her flowers and all these things like that.
00:58:00A nice woman.
00:58:03Vendors and city corporation workers protested on Tuesday
00:58:07over conditions at the San Fernando Central Market.
00:58:11When members of the public come to purchase here,
00:58:15people in the market smoking marijuana, smoking cocaine
00:58:20on the side of the road, prostitution taking place on a daily basis
00:58:23and no police present.
00:58:25So we're really working in humane conditions.
00:58:28In terms of the security, that is one of the aspects
00:58:31that we have fell down on.
00:58:33And we comprehensively discussed it at council
00:58:36and the CEO and I are bent on putting measures in place
00:58:41to secure first and foremost the staff at City Hall
00:58:45and at our institutions, which include the market.
00:58:48We intend on having a meeting tomorrow
00:58:51with the union and officials from the Ministry of Local Government
00:58:55and we will discuss this at length.
00:59:00And in the weather forecast,
00:59:02expect predominantly hot and sunny conditions
00:59:05despite a few showers.
00:59:07There is also a low chance of isolated afternoon heavy showers
00:59:11or thunderstorms favouring hilly areas.
00:59:14Tonight is expected to be fair.
00:59:16Temperatures are expected to climb to 34 degrees Celsius
00:59:20in Trinidad and 32 in Tobago.

01:03:08It's for two main events.
01:03:10My first event is in a couple weeks, actually, to go to the All Dance America competition
01:03:15in Panama.
01:03:16I recently joined Extreme Dance Academy's competitive team.
01:03:21So, we have to go in Panama for All Dance America's competition on the 18th of September
01:03:27to the 23rd.
01:03:2825th.
01:03:2925th, yes.
01:03:30But the competition runs from there.
01:03:32And then we have some workshops and stuff to do besides that.
01:03:36And then in March of 2025, there's the Change the World Model UN Conference, which is a
01:03:43mock conference of the United Nations.
01:03:45Yeah.
01:03:46Let's speak a little bit about the dance.
01:03:49What sort of dance are we speaking about?
01:03:51Urban dance.
01:03:52All right.
01:03:53I'm into pieces for the Afro Megacrew and the Hip Hop Megacrew.
01:04:00But I've been dancing since I was two.
01:04:03So, I've done ballet, tap, modern, contemporary, most of the genres.
01:04:08What?
01:04:09Demanding is not easy, everybody.
01:04:11But let's talk a little bit about the World Model UN that is going to be held in New York.
01:04:21How did you become involved in this?
01:04:23Honestly, I was just scrolling on Instagram and I saw this ad for this trip and you could
01:04:30sign up and they'll fund some of this stuff.
01:04:34So, I was like, oh, I want to do this.
01:04:36And then I actually got the last day of interviews to sign up.
01:04:40It was very last minute.
01:04:42I just told my mother, can I sign up for this?
01:04:44She was like, sure.
01:04:45And then we got the interview.
01:04:46It was like five minutes.
01:04:48The woman basically just asked me what are my values on topics like Palestine and Israel,
01:04:58what I want for my future globally, my dreams, my goals, my aspirations.
01:05:03And then I thought I completely bombed it because I was late actually and there were
01:05:09a lot of technical difficulties.
01:05:10I was like, I'm not going.
01:05:11And then I got an email saying, hey, you accepted.
01:05:14And yeah, that's how I found out.
01:05:16Yeah.
01:05:17All right.
01:05:18Let's bring in mom here.
01:05:19Mom, how much money do you all have to raise?
01:05:21We have to raise roughly 14,000, over 14,000 US dollars for both trips.
01:05:29It's actually a wonderful experience.
01:05:31The Change the World Model UN is actually an educational program in addition to the
01:05:37conference.
01:05:38So, it culminates with a four-day conference at the UN headquarters in New York.
01:05:43But prior to that, she's actually benefiting from an educational program that is where
01:05:51she has mentors and teachers that are former diplomats and heads of state that are going
01:05:56to be training the delegates to prepare them for the conference.
01:06:01She will be required to write a position paper.
01:06:06So it's pretty serious.
01:06:07Yeah.
01:06:08A lot of work, mom.
01:06:09Yes.
01:06:10Yes.
01:06:11Each delegate is going to be assigned a country.
01:06:13So while she will be representing Trinidad and Tobago, she will not be assigned, you're
01:06:18not assigned your own country.
01:06:20So there's a certain amount of research that has to go into the preparation, and of course
01:06:26the writing of the paper.
01:06:28And then the paper has to be presented at the conference, the debate, and they actually
01:06:33vie for the best delegate as well as the best position paper.
01:06:39So it's very exciting.
01:06:41We have a lot of work to do to prepare.
01:06:43She started the classes in August, on August 7th.
01:06:47So yeah.
01:06:48Yeah.
01:06:50And of course there has to be a period of time that you would want these funds to be
01:06:53raised.
01:06:54Yes.
01:06:55Of course.
01:06:56Yeah.
01:06:57So we've had certain deadlines because we, you know, we have tuition for the academy
01:07:01that she's in, the Change the World Model U.N. Academy.
01:07:06And of course, well, the Panama trip, we leave on September 18th.
01:07:10So that is fast approaching.
01:07:12We've raised, well, funds have been coming in.
01:07:16I'm very grateful.
01:07:19Up to last week, we had raised about a thousand U.S.
01:07:23This week, I think we may be close to 3,000.
01:07:29But we do have some payment deadlines to meet, particularly like in the next few days because
01:07:34of the preparation for Panama.
01:07:36Yeah.
01:07:37Yeah.
01:07:38So people who would want to contribute, how do they do that?
01:07:43They can reach me on my mobile.
01:07:45That is at 367-5295.
01:07:50And we are also on social media.
01:07:53We've created a social media page for her because she really wants to pursue a life
01:07:59in leadership as well as in the arts.
01:08:03And she wants to use the arts as her vehicle to effect change.
01:08:09So we've launched a social media profile for her on Instagram and Facebook, on TikTok
01:08:15as well as YouTube.
01:08:17And the handle for that is at Imanism, double I-M-A-N double I-S-M.
01:08:23Yeah.
01:08:24And Imani, I was telling me earlier, you know, she dances and she sings and she acts and
01:08:29so on.
01:08:30And she says the ultimate goal is to end up on Broadway.
01:08:33And I told her, I said, well, Imani, I don't see any reason why that will not happen.
01:08:40Imani, anything else you'd like to tell us before you leave us this morning?
01:08:44I just want to stress that, yes, there's going to be a competitive aspect with the Model
01:08:49UN, but I am mainly there for the experience and I'm not going to be stressing myself out
01:08:57worrying about I'm going to be gavel hunting for this and that.
01:09:02I've always been a very overachieving person.
01:09:05I strive for the best and nothing less.
01:09:09But I do want to focus on learning and the experience.
01:09:12Yeah.
01:09:13Yeah.
01:09:14Mom, anything else you'd like to add?
01:09:15I'm just really grateful that she took the initiative to apply for this and that we're
01:09:22able to do this and I can support her in the way that I am supporting her because I think
01:09:32Imani has a lot to offer.
01:09:34She really is focused on wanting to help her community, her nation, the world be a better
01:09:43place.
01:09:44Yeah.
01:09:45That sounds like a Michael Jackson song, a better place.
01:09:49Imani, it was a pleasure speaking with you and Mom, thank you very much for coming this
01:09:52morning and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors and you all send some funds
01:09:57for Imani.
01:09:58Imani has big things to do.
01:10:00All right.
01:10:01So we are coming back, everybody.
01:10:34Thank you.

01:14:53Thank you.
01:14:54Thank you.
01:14:55Thank you.
01:14:56Good morning.
01:14:57Good morning, Andrew.
01:14:58So, Cecilia.
01:14:59Let's get right into it.
01:15:01Because I know for people who don't know, now, this is something that was done many years
01:15:09ago abroad, and here.
01:15:11And here, yes.
01:15:12Right?
01:15:13Mm-hmm.
01:15:14Let's look at what we're 50 came to vagina monologues.
01:15:17Yes.
01:15:18Because when you speak about vagina people, oh.
01:15:20Yes.
01:15:21Everybody.
01:15:22They either giggle.
01:15:23So please explain.
01:15:24Please explain to them what this play is, this production is.
01:15:29Well, in 1996, I believe it is, Eve Ensler first mounted the Vagina Monologues.
01:15:36She realized that she needed, women needed to have discussions about this.
01:15:42This was before the Me Too movement and all of that.
01:15:45And she interviewed 200 women, right, to get their stories on everything,
01:15:52and on marriage, on childbirth, on serious issues like non-consensual sex.
01:16:01So she interviewed these women and she did it.
01:16:03And then in 2004, it was redone for V-Day.
01:16:06V-Day, they mounted this campaign for violence against women.
01:16:11So the play was done all over the world, all over the world.
01:16:15It was done in Trinidad as well at that time.
01:16:19That's when it was done here.
01:16:20But I was not in that production.
01:16:22I was supposed to be, but I couldn't at that time.
01:16:25And now, so many years later, Proscenium Theatre has decided to do this play.
01:16:30So it's stories of women that she interviewed.
01:16:32I mean, she went to Kosovo and interviewed in Bosnia
01:16:36and interviewed women too about, you know, crimes during war.
01:16:41So it deals with everything.
01:16:42It deals with desire.
01:16:44It deals with love.
01:16:45It deals with joy.
01:16:46It deals with sadness.
01:16:48And it's only when I really read this play,
01:16:51I realized that your vagina as a woman is your center.
01:16:56There's so many things, daily things that surround, you know, this body part.
01:17:01But we don't like to talk about it.
01:17:03It's taboo.
01:17:04Of course it is.
01:17:05We give it all kind of other names.
01:17:06You know how many names they have for that one body part all over the world?
01:17:10I'm not lying. Hundreds.
01:17:11So it's demystifying it.
01:17:13It's giving women a chance to talk about these issues.
01:17:17And in talking, you realize that you share and you grow and you heal
01:17:22and you realize you're not alone.
01:17:24Like the Me Too movement.
01:17:25Oh, you have that problem too?
01:17:27Right.
01:17:28Me too, it rarely happens.
01:17:29I have had that experience.
01:17:32All right. Let's bring in Andrew.
01:17:34Andrew, tell us about you think why this is needed at this time.
01:17:40And let's speak about your take on the vagina monologues.
01:17:46Sure.
01:17:47So the one thing with Proscenium Theatre Company is that we've always tried
01:17:53to use theater as a medium to talk about social issues, right?
01:17:58There was something has been core to our DNA.
01:18:02And looking at the state of, you know, kind of women's rights across the world,
01:18:09if you look at Project 2025 in the U.S.
01:18:13And so this was several months ago, you know, about six months ago,
01:18:17and we started to think through what was next.
01:18:20And so this came up as a recurring theme, right?
01:18:22This idea of, like, you know, women are under attack globally from different ways.
01:18:27And then there was a spike in Trinidad with, you know, murders and domestic violence.
01:18:33And so it's, you know, it's an unsafe place, right?
01:18:37The world, the environment, it's an unsafe place for women.
01:18:40And so it's important to try to create a safe space, even if a haven for two hours,
01:18:45where, you know, women in Trinidad can come together and their men,
01:18:49the men who love them, comfort them, and have a safe space
01:18:54where they can just openly share about their experiences.
01:18:58And so what's been really interesting about this production is it's mixed
01:19:04in that there is the performance that's happening,
01:19:07but we've also gotten several stories of women from the public.
01:19:11And we've shared those stories online.
01:19:14We'll be playing them at the theater.
01:19:16And after the performance itself, there'll be an open share.
01:19:19So women who are in the audience themselves can share their own stories.
01:19:23So it's this kind of mix between, you know, produced theater and street community theater.
01:19:29Because we want to just break that wall and have that interaction.
01:19:33But, you know, Andrew, is it that you think, and Cecilia, you can chime in here too,
01:19:41sometimes the conversation could be an uncomfortable conversation,
01:19:48but the story and the conversation, it has to be had, right, Andrew?
01:19:53Absolutely.
01:19:56And, you know, it's one of those things, right, as with anything on our lives,
01:19:59whether we have to, you know, go to the gym and have pain before gain,
01:20:03or whether we have to go to school and study before we drive the exam.
01:20:07It's through pain comes growth, right?
01:20:09Through pain comes birth and growth.
01:20:11And so, yeah, it's just you have to sit down and you have to brace that uncomfortableness.
01:20:17And if you're genuinely interested in moving through, then it's just part and parcel of it, right?
01:20:23Like nothing good comes from just easiness, right?
01:20:28You have to be uncomfortable for just a little bit.
01:20:30I think the difference with this is it's not purposeful, uncomfortable.
01:20:35Oh, we're going to do a sex thing and make everybody uncomfortable.
01:20:38Because it's not about sex.
01:20:39Sex is a topic, absolutely it is, but it's not about that.
01:20:43It's about the female experience and about women realizing, as Cecilia said,
01:20:48that there are a lot of shared experiences, and then bringing together those shared experiences,
01:20:53you find comfort and joy with each other.
01:20:55And I think that's a good point that he made there too about, you know, we say the vagina monologues
01:21:00and people go, they get, you know, but it's not about sex.
01:21:03There are so many other issues.
01:21:06Serious issues.
01:21:07Serious issues, but very funny.
01:21:09Very funny.
01:21:11There's one called the vagina workshop where this woman goes to a workshop.
01:21:15I mean, we've all seen these kind of things and it is hilarious.
01:21:19You know, it is so funny and she's there trying to maneuver and figure out what to do in this workshop.
01:21:24It is funny.
01:21:26And there's a funny piece called My Angry Vagina.
01:21:29Why am I angry?
01:21:31You will have to come and see.
01:21:33But it is so true and it is so funny.
01:21:37And then there are serious pieces.
01:21:39So that's what I really like about this production.
01:21:41You know, it's a variety.
01:21:43You will laugh.
01:21:44You may cry.
01:21:45You may get angry and you may want to change things when you're finished.
01:21:49Let's hope that this can be, you know, a process for change.
01:21:52And as Andrew says, we're going to be talking to the audience.
01:21:55Come prepared to share if you would like.
01:21:58You don't have to, but we're going to ask questions.
01:22:01Like, I wouldn't give it away.
01:22:03And you can write them on a piece of paper and we may give your answer on stage.
01:22:07We will pick some of the answers, you know, and give them on stage, you know.
01:22:12So I think that would be wonderful for the audience to share.
01:22:15And as you saw there, we have wonderful actresses working on this production.
01:22:21Tasha Jones, Jerry Lee David, Alma Holder Gordon.
01:22:26She's flying in from Tobago, so we've been rehearsing virtually with her.
01:22:30And Renee King.
01:22:32And a variety of ages as well.
01:22:35So it's ages, different cultural backgrounds, five different women coming together to share these stories.
01:22:42Andrew, who is this production for?
01:22:44I'm sure for ladies, but I'm sure men can learn something too, right?
01:22:49Yeah, so as the kind of trademark line from our presenting sponsor, Heartbeat 104,
01:22:57it's for women and men who love them.
01:22:59So it's adult.
01:23:02I mean, I think it's, you know, but primarily it's for adult women.
01:23:08But anybody who feels so inclined to come and put themselves in a bit of discomfort
01:23:16and learn something and get some catharsis.
01:23:19Yes, and enjoy an evening of sharing with us wonderful women.
01:23:23There's Alma, Renee.
01:23:25It's really going wonderfully.
01:23:28And of course, our director is Mervyn Degooge, who has worked on this.
01:23:33Who would have written the production?
01:23:36Who would have directed it the first time?
01:23:39Cecilia's underselling. She's a co-director on this piece as well.
01:23:42So her first time getting into the director's shoes.
01:23:45So we're very excited about that.
01:23:47But Andrew, who are the writers?
01:23:49It's Eve Ensler.
01:23:51Eve Ensler wrote it when she wrote it, doing all these interviews.
01:23:57And actually, this production is timeless.
01:24:02It's timeless. It's not dated in any way
01:24:05because it's about issues that these women go through.
01:24:08And you realize that women all over the world.
01:24:11So a good play, once it deals with emotions and issues,
01:24:16can be done by anyone.
01:24:18And this play is done all over the world.
01:24:20I met a friend the other day, an artist from Venezuela,
01:24:23who told me he believes it's going on in Venezuela now
01:24:26with three of the top actresses there.
01:24:28And it's always done with the best actresses in the country.
01:24:32Yeah, that's why you got Cecilia, right?
01:24:34Right, Andrew? That's why you got Cecilia.
01:24:37And I really encourage people to come out
01:24:40because, okay, the theater, we talk about this all the time.
01:24:43The theater has now started to pick back up after COVID, right?
01:24:47And we know that the comedies are out there.
01:24:50I love doing comedies. I love, right?
01:24:52Because it's fun, and through comedy you can learn as well.
01:24:56But this production is a little different.
01:24:58So we really, I think we need this sort of theater in our country.
01:25:02We need these to talk about these social issues, you know?
01:25:05And it's also about rich women, poor women.
01:25:09This production has everything, every woman.
01:25:13All right, Cecilia and Andrew,
01:25:15we have put up the contact information for you
01:25:18and where people can get tickets and so on.
01:25:20We wish you all the best.
01:25:22Yeah, thank you very much.

01:25:29Thank you.
01:25:30We're going to have a short break. We're coming back.

01:28:00Alright everybody, so it's time now for our CPL segment.
01:28:05Now, you may remember some weeks ago,
01:28:08we had Dr. Merriam-Richards on the show to launch CPL's
01:28:11Health, Fitness and Well-Being Program
01:28:14to get persons more involved in the fitness for our region.
01:28:17Now, CPL and Barbados Fitness instructor,
01:28:20Amory Spinneyholder, have combined to create a six-minute cricket-themed
01:28:26high-intensity workout. It's called HIT.
01:28:29Here to tell us more about the fun, intense cricket workout is Spinney.
01:28:33Spinney, good morning.
01:28:35Hi, good morning. Thanks for having me.
01:28:38Yeah, Spinney, I'm just reading the introduction here and I'm out of breath, you know.
01:28:42Because of what I feel is involved in this initiative.
01:28:46Please tell us about it.
01:28:50Well, I will start off on how it came about.
01:28:54I got an email from CPL and I also got a message via Instagram.
01:29:02When a page like CPL reaches out to you,
01:29:05a company like CPL reaches out to you, you have to answer.
01:29:09So they were explaining to me this year they're taking health, fitness and well-being
01:29:14extremely serious because it is a serious issue,
01:29:17not only in the Caribbean, but all over the world.
01:29:20And they said, this year we want to play a major part in doing better for our countrymen.
01:29:27So Spinney, what we want from you is to create a routine,
01:29:32which is still themed around cricket.
01:29:35And that's how they came up with the name HIT for Six.
01:29:38I was like, OK, no problem.
01:29:40You know, because normally I do, my sessions are called cultural cardio.
01:29:44And I say cultural cardio because it's based around what we do in the Caribbean.
01:29:49You guys in Trinidad, Hawaii, in Barbados, we call it walking up and they infuse aerobic movements.
01:29:55So we're working out, having fun.
01:29:57I was like, OK, this will be outside the box for me.
01:30:00So I reached out to my team members.
01:30:03I reached out to Nandi and I reached out to Palm and I was like,
01:30:06yo, we have this project to do for the CPL.
01:30:09It's outside the box, but we can get this through.
01:30:14And the result is what you guys see on the CPL T20 YouTube page, the HIT for Six routine.
01:30:21Yeah. Spinney, what has the response been thus far?
01:30:27Pardon me?
01:30:28What has the response been thus far?
01:30:32Oh, the response has been crazy.
01:30:34One thing that I've realized, it has also made people have a lot more respect for cricketers.
01:30:42Because, you know, people see them on TV and be like, yo, when I'm getting this money, when I should be able to do this, I'm going to do that, right?
01:30:48But the simple part where I made them do the wikikeeping squats, they're like, yo,
01:30:54I did not realize that for 20 overs or maybe 50 overs or for a test match,
01:31:00a wikikeeper has to go into a deep squat every single ball.
01:31:04And that is extremely challenging on the legs.
01:31:07So people are loving the workout.
01:31:09The response has been great.
01:31:11I've seen many of the ladies players have done it so far.
01:31:15Deandra Dalton has messaged me and was like, yo, Spinney, you're killing me here with this workout.
01:31:22Come on, man, you could have taken it a little easier.
01:31:26But I'm like, no, you burn the calories, you get fit, and we all, you know, won't go.
01:31:32Yeah. So we are looking at one of your videos here.
01:31:36We saw where it started off quite slowly, but then it started to pick up pace, Spinney.
01:31:42So is it that you have tailored your videos almost to meet every demographic?
01:31:50So let's say the young people, middle aged people and also the elderly, they can benefit from these videos.
01:32:00Yeah, that's exactly what we were going for.
01:32:03We wanted that everyone that's a CPR game, everyone that watches it on TV, every single person from the ages of two all the way to 92 can do this workout.
01:32:15So we made it as simple as possible.
01:32:17The reason why it starts easy is because you still have to always employ the basics on everything.
01:32:24You need to warm up. You don't want to just jump into the fire.
01:32:28You need to warm up and then gradually increase.
01:32:31So we did three segments, the warm up segment, the peer segment, and then the final segment is the fun segment.
01:32:37But the trick in it is the fun, the fun segment is the more intense segment.
01:32:44But you don't realize because you're having fun.
01:32:47Yeah. So how many videos have you all made thus far?
01:32:53We did one main video, which is the six minutes.
01:32:58As you know, on Instagram and pages like that, the attention span is different to YouTube.
01:33:04But what they have done, they have chopped it up into enough different mini videos.
01:33:10You know, you got excuse enough, you know, Beijing, the Beijing dialect, you understand?
01:33:15They cut it up into many different segments on Instagram from time to time.
01:33:20But you can find the entire video on CPL's YouTube channel, which is CPLT20.
01:33:27You can also find the mini clips on the Instagram page.
01:33:32Follow Spinny Fullstop13 and CPLT20 because you never know when the next video or next challenge might get reached.
01:33:40Yeah. Spinny, that's a bat I'm seeing on your on your chain there.
01:33:45Yeah, it is a bat on my chain.
01:33:49Spinny taking this thing serious, boy. Spinny, hold the line with us.
01:33:52We are going to a very short break. We're coming back, Spinny.
01:34:18It's CPL time, man, woman, girl and boy.

01:34:41We're falling and crossing the river.

01:37:50Dove it.
01:37:51New Dove. Replenish your skin after every shave.
01:38:17New Dove.
01:38:31New Dove.
01:38:39Alright, so welcome back everyone. So, we are continuing our discussion on the CPL's
01:38:51health, fitness, and well-being initiative and of course, we are continuing our discussion
01:38:56with Amory Spinney Holder. Spinney? Yes, ma'am. So, what I've noticed, Spinney, is as I'm
01:39:05looking at the video, I'm seeing where you're really mimicking certain movements in the
01:39:14cricket. Yeah. How long did you all take to prepare, if I can put it that way, or come
01:39:23up with these exercises that mimic some of the movements in cricket? Okay, as you highlighted
01:39:32earlier, the cricket bat on my chin, right? So, I used to play cricket. Yeah. So, I can
01:39:38ignore the movements. I also did not want to make it complicated and I wanted that when
01:39:45you watch the video, you know it is related to cricket. And as I said earlier, you gotta
01:39:50warm up, go through the segments as well. The route coming up with the moves to start,
01:39:59as you know, we wanted to warm the shoulders up and then go into bowling. Warm the legs
01:40:04up because, you know, you use your quads and stuff to play it forward when playing cricket,
01:40:09not me doing the actions. So, it took us about, I want to say, let me say, maybe like a few
01:40:23hours to put together the moves and then come up with the order to go about it. I'd like to just
01:40:29say a few hours. I cannot remember the exact time, but it was a team effort between me,
01:40:37Nandi and Palmer on how we went about doing it because we wanted it to flow also. But you know,
01:40:44Spinny, these movements that I'm seeing here are not to be taken lightly because I'm sure
01:40:50that at the end of the day, these movements that we're seeing are going to have a positive
01:40:56impact on your body. Yeah. I did a video on Sunday, going again to the same workout.
01:41:10When I was in the middle of the session, I was tired. I was like, whoa, I cannot believe.
01:41:18I was like six. We didn't do six minutes yet. It really is a hit workout. It really is intense.
01:41:26It starts nice and easy and full, you know, get the shoulders nice and loose and ball nice and
01:41:32easy and let me squat and stuff like that. But when that second segment starts, it is fierce.
01:41:39It is intensity. It is challenging. And you get up every morning and you do that for your morning
01:41:47workout for the rest of the month. You're good to go. You're good to go. I think, Spinny, I may
01:41:53have to take up that challenge. You know, after I finish the show every morning, I'm going to have
01:41:58to take up the challenge, right? Yeah, every morning after you finish the show, take up the
01:42:04challenge, send me the video. I want to see the evidence. You hear what Spinny has said? He wants
01:42:12to see the evidence. So he has forced me to do it now. But Spinny, I want to speak about this
01:42:19lifestyle that you have adopted because it's really something that you do every day, right?
01:42:27And you're thinking about every day, this habit, this lifestyle of exercise. And for many,
01:42:34Spinny, you know, sometimes when if it's carnival that we're preparing for or whatever event,
01:42:42you know, we always rush to the gym and work out for, let's say, a few months because just to lose
01:42:49some weight. But I think, Spinny, it's very difficult for people to stay on board because,
01:42:56you know, sometimes these exercises are very difficult, right? What's your advice this morning
01:43:01to get people on that treadmill or on that train and for them to stay on?
01:43:08Um, we have to make it a lifestyle. So the preparation that we do right before carnival,
01:43:17it is not realistic to maintain that, the average person to maintain that through the entire year.
01:43:25So you have to, what you can do, you could do it in different seasons. So you can say,
01:43:30okay, carnival isn't here right now, but let me still go for a jog every morning, get the heart
01:43:38rate up, you understand? That will not take up no more than 30 minutes of your time. What also,
01:43:47eating is very, very, very important. So again, leading up to carnival, we go and do
01:43:55unrealistic things that cannot sustain us for the entire year. So what we have to do now is make it
01:44:01a lifestyle, you know, let me eat more nutrition-based food. So like some of the canned
01:44:11goods and stuff like that, that we know has nothing in it for us. Let us eat some more wholesome food.
01:44:17Let me make sure to get the meats, make sure to get the vegetables, you know, and the carbs.
01:44:23So just put some more thought into the choices that you've made. All of the fast food, not
01:44:30knocking anyone's job or anything like that, but all of the fast foods and stuff like that,
01:44:35over time, it tells on you, you're not going to put dirty oil or dirty gas in your car.
01:44:43Yeah. If you do, it's going to stutter, you understand? So what you put in, you get out.
01:44:48So the cleaner you eat, the cleaner, the more you put in work, the more you get out. You cannot get
01:44:57from an empty cup, or you cannot get something proper from something that is dirty. So we just
01:45:04have to make some small changes that can happen throughout the year. Like, as you say, when you
01:45:11finish there, you want to do it for six, work out, that is only six minutes of 24 hours you are doing
01:45:18that. Spinny, hold the line a little while longer with us, and please stay with us, Spinny. We are
01:45:23going to have a very short break, everybody. We'll be coming back.

01:49:07We're not good at batting.
01:49:13We're not good at bowling.
01:49:20Not even cheerleading.
01:49:25But we're definitely good at windows, doors, handrails, fences.
01:49:30Guys, let's stick to what we know, please. Visit our website at www.domuswindows.com.
01:49:46All right, everybody. So we are continuing our discussion on the CPL's Health, Fitness,
01:49:51and Well-Being Initiative, and we are continuing our discussion with Amory Spinney Holder.
01:49:57Spinney, I think it is safe to say, though, that the CPL may be on the right path when it comes to
01:50:05fitness. I see where it is stating that it would be arranging for fitness instructors to lead fans
01:50:12of a new workout at CPL matches with dates and times to be confirmed. Also, the league will also
01:50:19be raising funds for further health, fitness, and well-being initiatives with U.S. $50 donated to
01:50:24the fund for every six hit during the 2024 tournament. So I get the feeling, Spinney,
01:50:32that this is not a one-off. This is something that is going to be continued.
01:50:37Yeah, it will be continued. It can't start and then stop. As stated earlier, health,
01:50:47fitness, and well-being issues all over the world, and CPL is doing the correct thing in
01:50:54taking the first step to lead the way to make sure that we have a better tomorrow.
01:51:00Yeah. Spinney, this health thing, this fitness journey, it needs discipline. I
01:51:06don't know that a lot of us have this discipline to do what you're doing, Spinney.
01:51:10Yeah, it's hard. I wouldn't say that every morning is easy. As soon as I wake up and I go like,
01:51:17yo, do I really have to go to the gym? And I'm like, you know what? Get up and go. Get up and go.
01:51:26Discipline is the key. Discipline is the key.
01:51:30Yeah. You know, I also speak about moderation, Spinney, because I think that sometimes people
01:51:36feel, as we were discussing when it comes to Carnival, people really go on a crash course and
01:51:41they cut out a lot of things and their workouts are so intense. But I feel, you know, moderation
01:51:48is a key part to all of this too. Moderation is key. There's a bread, I don't know if you guys
01:51:56have this bread in Trinidad, but there's a bread and bar, it's called sweet bread. Right.
01:52:00If you can eat properly for majority and promise yourself, okay, every Sunday I would have,
01:52:06I would treat myself to that. You eating that once in a while will not harm you. But it's when we go
01:52:15and do this morning, afternoon, evening, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. Yeah. We can
01:52:21all enjoy things, but do not overdo. Yeah. Spinney, we have to go to a very short break again.
01:52:27We're coming back. Please stay with us.

01:56:55and well-being initiative. We do have Spinni. He has stayed with us. Spinni, I have about 10
01:57:01seconds really before we part ways this morning. Your final comments.
01:57:09I have one message for the cricketers. I would like the cricketers to break the record in six
01:57:14hitting this year. Because every six hits, 50 US dollars is going to the initiative. So let's make
01:57:22some major funds. Let's pump it into the places that are necessary to help with this. Spinni,
01:57:30it was a pleasure speaking with you. Thank you very much this morning. Bye for now. Thanks for
01:57:36having me. Thanks for having me. All right, so that's going to be it for our program for today.
01:57:39See you right back here tomorrow morning at six o'clock. Bye everybody.
