00:00
Good morning, I am Benison Estareja, and we have an update regarding our monitoring of the Severe Tropical Storm Enteng
00:07
with international name Yagi, this morning at 5 AM on Wednesday.
00:14
The Philippine Area of Responsibility has already released this storm Enteng,
00:18
and it was last seen around 265 kilometers west-northwest of Ilocos City,
00:23
of Ilocos Norte this morning at 4 AM.
00:27
It is getting stronger now, from 95 kilometers per hour last night,
00:31
it has become 100 kilometers per hour of strong wind near its center,
00:36
and it has gustiness up to 125 kilometers per hour.
00:39
And for now, it is moving slowly west-northwest,
00:43
far from our land, it is still in the West Philippine Sea for now.
00:47
But we still expect the effect of Southwest Monsoon or Habagat,
00:51
that it is being enhanced or enhanced by this storm Enteng,
00:55
and knowing that it is slow for now, and getting stronger,
00:58
the sometimes heavy rain will still continue in the western sections of Luzon,
01:03
including Metro Manila.
01:06
For now, as of 5 in the morning, we have a heavy rainfall warning that is high,
01:10
orange warning here in Laloiga ng Bataan,
01:13
so it means we have intense rain from 5 AM to 8 AM.
01:18
While we have yellow warning or heavy rains,
01:21
here in Zambales, Pampanga, Bulacan, and Metro Manila.
01:25
So be careful of possible floods,
01:28
and to those returning to school and work,
01:33
make sure that we have raincoats like raincoats or raincoats.
01:38
Meanwhile, based on our latest satellite animation,
01:40
we will continue monitoring cloud clusters here in the east of Luzon,
01:45
but for now, it is not possible for this to be a storm in the next 24 hours.
01:52
This is the last track and latest track of hope regarding this storm Enteng.
01:57
It is expected to move to the left or westward
02:00
here in the South China Sea and the southern portion of China,
02:04
but for now, it is still close to our land,
02:07
in the West Philippine Sea,
02:09
at around 200 to 300 kilometers away from Ilocos Norte.
02:14
As long as the wind is not too strong, it will move away from our land,
02:18
so there will be no direct effect,
02:19
and the strongest wind brought by this storm Enteng is also offshore.
02:26
That is why we have no tropical cyclone wind signals in any areas of northern Luzon.
02:33
For now, even though this storm Enteng has already left the Philippine Area of Responsibility,
02:39
strong rains will continue in the next 3 days,
02:43
that is the effect of the southwest monsoon.
02:45
Heavy to intense rains are expected, or 100 to 200 millimeters of rain,
02:51
in 4 provinces, including Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro today and tomorrow.
02:59
Meanwhile, we have moderate to heavy rains, or around 50 to 100 millimeters of rain today
03:06
in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Benguet.
03:10
While today and tomorrow, moderate to heavy rains are still possible
03:15
here in the areas of Central Southern Luzon,
03:18
including Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila,
03:24
as well as Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, and the northern part of Palawan,
03:30
including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Islands.
03:34
So these are the areas where we will most likely still experience heavy rainfall warnings
03:38
and rainfall advisories in the next 2 days.
03:43
Meanwhile, as of Friday, September 6,
03:46
even though Baguio-Enteng is already far from our land,
03:49
the effects of the monsoon will still continue on the western side of Luzon,
03:55
including Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro,
03:58
but more on moderate to heavy rains only.
04:01
To those who are asking, compared to yesterday, what will be our rains for today?
04:07
For example, here in Metro Manila,
04:09
yesterday's rainfall is almost equivalent to today's rainfall.
04:13
The nature of our rains is not continuous with strong rains.
04:17
Heavy rains will continue,
04:19
and light to moderate rains will continue throughout the day,
04:22
and the weather will still be gloomy.
04:24
Metro Manila and the nearby areas of Central Luzon and Calabarzon.
04:30
In the remaining part of our country,
04:32
there are still scattered rains and thunderstorms
04:34
In the nearby areas, we mentioned earlier,
04:37
including Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Marinduque,
04:42
parts of Bicol Region, Quezon, and Aurora.
04:44
While the places we haven't mentioned yet,
04:47
here in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao,
04:49
the fair weather conditions will still continue,
04:51
or partly cloudy,
04:53
until sometimes the sky is cloudy,
04:55
which is only accompanied by heavy rains
04:57
and localized thunderstorms that last for 1 to 2 days.
05:02
This will continue for the next 3 days.
05:06
Meanwhile, severe winds will be more evident
05:10
and we will feel it today,
05:12
because of the heavy rains and thunderstorms.
05:16
We have gusty conditions today and tomorrow
05:19
in Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Isabela, Aurora,
05:24
Zambales and Bataan,
05:26
Bulacan, Metro Manila, Calabarzon,
05:29
the whole of Mimaropa, Bicol Region,
05:32
Western Visayas, Negros Provinces, and Northern Samar.
05:40
We will continue to remind our countrymen
05:43
that in the next 2 days,
05:46
be careful of possible floods,
05:48
especially in low-lying areas.
05:50
There are also areas that are not flooded often
05:52
that will also be flooded,
05:54
knowing that we had heavy rains in the past few days.
05:56
There is a high chance that we will have floods
05:59
in our small river systems.
06:02
We will always monitor because it is possible
06:04
that upstream in the mountains,
06:06
there are floods that will suddenly pour
06:08
in the downstream areas.
06:10
And in mountainous areas,
06:12
make sure that we are monitored
06:14
for possible landslides,
06:16
knowing that our lands and mountains
06:18
are saturated in the areas of the Northern,
06:21
Central, and even here in Calabarzon
06:24
and Mindoro Provinces.
06:26
Always coordinate with our local
06:28
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices
06:30
for possible evacuation
06:32
and also coordinate with your local
06:34
chief executives, barangay chairmen,
06:36
mayors, and governors
06:38
for possible suspension
06:40
of your classes and jobs.
06:43
And for areas with high waves,
06:46
expect up to 4.5 meters
06:48
or one and a half floors
06:50
of houses with high waves
06:52
here in the villages in Hilaga
06:54
and the northern part of Luzon.
06:56
Expect up to 4.5 meters
06:58
over Batanes,
07:00
the villages of Ilocos Norte,
07:02
Ilocos Sur, La Union,
07:04
parts of Pangasinan,
07:06
as well as the northern coast of Cagayan,
07:08
along Babuyan Islands,
07:10
Pababa ng Zambales, Bataan, and Lubang Islands.
07:12
If we have a gale warning,
07:14
most likely suspended
07:16
sea travel for small sea vessels
07:18
and be careful
07:20
not to spread our countrymen
07:22
who have large sea vehicles.
07:24
And in other areas,
07:26
we will not have any problems
07:28
in terms of sea travel.
07:30
And before we finish,
07:32
we have a Tropical Cyclone Threat
07:34
Potential Forecast
07:36
that is released every now and then.
07:38
Today, until the next
07:40
early next week, around Monday,
07:42
it is possible that we will have
07:44
two weather disturbances.
07:46
One, within the cloud clusters
07:48
that we saw in our satellite animation,
07:50
at the northern coast of Luzon,
07:52
it is possible that there will be
07:54
a low-pressure area.
07:56
But the general movement is
07:58
to the north coast or away from our land.
08:00
So this is not a direct threat
08:02
to our country.
08:04
But it is possible that there will be
08:06
minimal enhancement of the coast
08:08
from Friday up until weekend.
08:10
Now that the weekend is coming,
08:12
it is also possible that there will be
08:14
a weather disturbance or low-pressure area
08:16
in the southern coast of Guam
08:18
and it will move to the north coast
08:20
until it is close to the
08:22
Philippine Area of Responsibility
08:24
by Monday.
08:28
Then by Tuesday next week,
08:30
until the weekend next week,
08:32
it is possible that it will be formed
08:34
as a tropical cyclone
08:36
and it is possible that
08:38
it will move west-northwest
08:40
until it reaches the Philippine Sea
08:42
and there may be
08:44
enhancement of the southwest
08:46
monsoon or habagat.
08:48
Based on our latest potential forecast,
08:50
there is a low chance that it will landfall.
08:52
But again, it is possible that it will rain
08:54
especially here in the western sections
08:56
of Luzon, Visayas,
08:58
and Bindanao.
09:00
Our threat potential forecast
09:02
changes regularly
09:04
two to three times per week.
09:06
So make sure that we are always
09:08
updated.
09:10
And that is the latest.
09:12
I am Benison Estareja.
09:14
Take care.
