00:00Today marks the 174th anniversary of the birth of Marcelo H. Del Pilar.

00:07A program of honor and praise for Del Pilar was held

00:11at the headquarters of the Association of Philippine Journalists

00:14of the Mahang Plaridel Foundation, Inc., in Ermita, Manila.

00:19Marcelo H. Del Pilar, also known as Plaridel,

00:23is the so-called patron saint of the papacy.

00:26He was one of the pioneers of the Philippine Revolution.

00:29He led the movement of propaganda during the Spanish occupation of the Philippines.

00:35That's why Plaridel's courage served as an inspiration

00:38in promoting ethical propaganda.

00:41He was also one of the celebrators of the Manila City Government

00:44and the Philippine National Historical Commission.

00:48The grandson of Marcelo H. Del Pilar, Rika Pauline Villegas,

00:54also thanked the papacy for the continued support of her grandfather.

00:59I am happy that you are all here to commemorate our grandfather, Marcelo,

01:05on the day of his birth.

01:07I hope that you will continue to write and fight for the truth of the whole of bravery

01:15for the good of our fellowmen and our country.

01:20In order for us to show our recognition of him as the father of propaganda,

01:28this event was organized as a fellowship of journalists

01:35that aims to propagate Marcelo H. Del Pilar's ideas.
