Marjoe Gortner is an American tourist in Acapulco who gets framed for heroin smuggling. He ends up getting broken out of jail by boozy boat captain Robert Lansing to sail from Acapulco to Hawaii, but unbeknownst to either of them, they're still in the smuggling business.
