00:04Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala guides us to be kind to all of his creations.
00:09Be kind to each other, to the oceans, to the land, to the trees, and of course to the animals.
00:17You will find many stories that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would share to demonstrate
00:23just how much love and kindness animals should be treated with.
00:28This is one such story.
00:31A young boy named Jasim was walking under the hot, blazing sun.
00:36Every morning, Jasim would walk from his house to the market to sell vegetables.
00:42He did this every morning, but today he had forgotten to take his bottle of water with him.
00:49After a few minutes, Jasim began to sweat.
00:52The vegetables started to feel so much heavier than they usually did.
00:57He kept on looking up into the sky, searching for any clouds that might bring a little relief,
01:02but he could see none.
01:04All Jasim could see was the bright orange, blazing sun in a clear blue sky.
01:10Soon, he came to a well.
01:13He paused for a moment, put the heavy bag of vegetables down, and took a breath.
01:19Jasim looked into the well and saw water.
01:22He felt good.
01:24He climbed down the ladder and drank to his heart's content.
01:28He would cup the water in both his hands many times and drink.
01:33Jasim took many sips and he felt so relieved and so refreshed.
01:39He thanked Allah for making him walk on a path where there was a well and climbed back out.
01:46Outside, he saw a cute little dog.
01:49The dog looked so hot and so thirsty.
01:52Jasim realized that the well was too deep for the dog to reach,
01:56and so he searched for a small plate in his bag, took it out, and went back into the well.
02:03He scooped up some water and brought it back up.
02:07The dog became so happy and wagged his tail with love and affection.
02:12Jasim waited patiently for the water to finish, took the plate, and went back to get more water.
02:19The dog looked at Jasim with so much love for his kindness.
02:23Jasim knew what it felt like to be hot and thirsty and just wanted to help the dog feel a little better.
02:30When Jasim was all set to leave, he picked up the heavy bag of vegetables,
02:34waved to his new friend, and continued on on his journey.
02:39As he approached the market, he noticed two men walking towards him.
02:45They looked at him, and when they were sure that the young boy was all alone,
02:49they pulled out a knife and told Jasim to turn over all the vegetables to them.
02:54Jasim panicked and became scared.
02:57He had to reach the market so he could sell the vegetables and return home with the money.
03:02He couldn't let these thieves rob him.
03:05But before he could think of what to do, a dog ran past him and stood in front of the men,
03:10growling and barking.
03:13Jasim realized that this was the same dog he had given water to earlier.
03:18The men got scared and ran off.
03:21Jasim bent down to pet the dog and say thank you.
03:24He thanked Allah for sending the dog to his aid.
03:28The little dog followed Jasim all the way to the market and all the way back to his home.
03:34Jasim had indeed made a new friend and a very loyal and brave one.
03:39And do you remember why the dog protected Jasim?
03:42After all, all Jasim did was give a thirsty dog some water and treated him with respect.
03:49And that's all it takes.
03:51A little love, kindness and respect.
03:55The lesson
03:57Allah wants us to love and be kind to animals and humans.
04:03When we do this, Allah rewards us.
