00:00From e-trike to e-jeepney, many people drive electric vehicles.
00:16But since charging is a new trend, UP Diliman has developed a charging system.
00:23Come on, let's change the game.
00:25With our goal for a greener and more sustainable future,
00:32EVs or electric vehicles are expected to increase in the country.
00:36As of now, according to the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines,
00:41EV units nationwide are already at 15,300.
00:45And the target is to increase to 6.6 million EVs by 2030.
00:50To support the increase of EVs in the country,
00:54the availability of public charging stations must also increase.
01:07This is where UP Diliman's game-changing innovation,
01:10Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute,
01:13Charm, short for Charging in Minutes,
01:17funded by DOST, has developed a fast-charging system for EVs like e-trikes and e-jeepneys
01:24that require a fast charge to be able to pass.
01:27They only take 4 to 6 hours to charge.
01:31And it directly translates to their opportunity to see more.
01:37With their game-changing innovation, charging capacity has increased
01:41from 30 minutes to 1 hour.
01:44Because compared to the gas that costs P250 to P300 per day,
01:50this costs only P100 with electric charging.
01:53What we saw is that they are able to add their income to P1,000,
01:58even up to P1,500 per day.
02:01My fellow Filipinos, we are now with a unit of Charm Charger.
02:05This is the cashless version.
02:07That's why we have a top card.
02:11We will now tap the card so that it will know that we have a payment.
02:14This is all touchscreen.
02:16You can choose the amount-based or percentage-based.
02:30And in less than an hour, our e-trike is now charged.
02:42They also made solar power-integrated charging stations
02:46so that even in remote areas, they can still charge.
02:49Their innovation won gold at the World Invent Singapore this year.
02:54What is better to serve?
02:56It's the people who really need this.
02:59Because they are the ones who need mileage
03:01so that they can see bigger things every day.
03:04Now, there are about 20 Charm stations in Luzon
03:07and it will also be in Zamboanga.
03:10There, my fellow Filipinos, a game-changing innovation
03:13for a more eco-friendly and sustainable transport sector for the country.
