Algeria Tumoro
00:12
Hello and welcome to Algeria Tumoro, with its picturesque Mediterranean cities,
00:17
its mountains of Djordjura and the ancient Atlas,
00:20
its prehistoric art of its vast Saharan desert.
00:23
Algeria is full of breathtaking landscapes.
00:26
2.5 million tourists have enjoyed it in the last 12 months,
00:30
but the country wants to do better.
00:32
It wants to multiply this figure by 5 by 2030.
00:35
How?
00:36
This is what I propose you to discover with us.
00:41
Attracting more tourists requires a new strategy.
00:44
It is based on 5 dynamics.
00:46
Investment, improvement of services, promotion,
00:49
development of communication infrastructures
00:52
and the establishment of a solid legal framework
00:55
for the management of the sector.
00:57
A strategy that is also synonymous with currency.
01:00
The only year of 2023 saw more than 1.4 billion euros enter the country.
01:05
We have actually put in place a whole strategy
01:08
that goes in the direction of development,
01:10
in particular of tourist investment
01:13
through a certain number of laws,
01:15
a certain number of support
01:17
to allow tourist investment to meet the demand
01:21
both nationally and internationally.
01:27
More than 3 million tourists have flown in the last 12 months,
01:30
of which more than 2 million were foreigners
01:33
and 1.1 million came from the national community abroad.
01:37
The country has not experienced such a boom in 20 years.
01:41
To boost the hospitality offer and surf on these good results,
01:45
the Investment Law offers an advantageous framework
01:49
249 areas of tourist expansion
01:52
are made available in different regions of the country.
01:56
More than 8,400 projects have already been registered.
01:59
Projects that should generate 210,000 direct jobs.
02:03
And digitization is in place.
02:05
It facilitates and clarifies the steps.
02:08
We want to create what is called the unique digital framework
02:12
through digitization,
02:14
in which the operator can accomplish
02:16
all the processes related to investment,
02:18
starting with information
02:20
on investment opportunities,
02:23
on investment procedures,
02:26
up to registration and obtaining authorizations.
02:32
It is the improvement of the investment climate
02:35
for more transparency and equal treatment.
02:38
We know that in tourism,
02:40
the funder is a driver of investment dynamics
02:42
and Algeria is experiencing a real revolution in this area.
02:45
The new laws are weighing a certain weight
02:48
in terms of preparation.
02:50
Procedures that will eventually lead to 90,000 additional beds.
02:54
And this is just the beginning.
02:56
The goal is 300,000 additional beds by 2030.
03:00
Tourist areas were created in 1988.
03:04
So far, we have not concretely developed any areas.
03:07
It is an opportunity to start this sector
03:10
and make it available to all foreign national investors
03:14
in order to reach a large French port.
03:17
We have a coastline that is really well served,
03:20
but we are currently working a lot more on the plateau,
03:24
so mountain tourism, thermal tourism,
03:27
because Algeria has 248 thermal sources
03:30
that are not really exploited.
03:32
According to the data of the World Tourism Organization,
03:35
Algeria is recording the third largest
03:38
African tourist progression in the space of five years.
03:41
This data illustrates the ambition of the country.
03:44
By 2030, it is not less than 12 million people
03:47
that Algeria intends to make discover its treasures.
03:51
In our strategy, which is the director scheme
03:54
of tourism management Horizon 2030,
03:56
we set ourselves as a goal
03:58
that the tourism sector would be an economic sector
04:01
for which Algeria must count.
04:03
And that's why we put all this strategy
04:06
to make tourism a product
04:09
that contributes to the raw national product
04:12
of the Algerian economy.
04:14
And we, the notion of tourism,
04:16
it is quite different from the global notion
04:18
as we define it,
04:20
because we, in the first place,
04:22
tourism is first of all a guest.
04:29
What makes the Algerian destination attractive
04:32
for many foreign investors,
04:34
especially since the loyal, targeted and national clientele
04:37
but also in the Mediterranean outskirts,
04:40
that is, France, Italy, Spain,
04:43
and why not, in the long run,
04:45
address the Chinese and Russian markets.
04:48
And it is in this magnificent setting
04:50
that this chapter on tourism closes.
04:53
See you soon in a new edition of Algeria Tomorrow.
