00:00This is the story of the Gingerbread Man.
00:25Once upon a time, a little old woman and a little old man lived in a cottage near a river.
00:30One morning, the little old woman decided to bake a gingerbread man as a little afternoon treat.
00:36As she rolled out the dough, she cut it into the shape of a little man.
00:40She used icing to give him eyes and a smile, gumdrops for buttons and a cherry for a nose.
00:47She then put him in the oven to bake.
00:49A few minutes later, the little old woman checked to see if he was cooked.
00:53As soon as she opened the door, the gingerbread man jumped out of the oven and ran through the open kitchen door.
01:00Don't eat me! he shouted.
01:02The little old woman was very surprised, but she was also very hungry.
01:06So she called to her husband and they both ran out the front door and after the gingerbread man.
01:12Stop! they yelled. Please stop!
01:15But the gingerbread man did not look back. He kept running, down the lane and into the woods as he sang.
01:21Run, run, as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man.
01:26As he entered the woods, the gingerbread man came across a pig.
01:29Stop! I would very much like to eat you.
01:33The gingerbread man did not stop. Instead, he ran right past the pig.
01:37I've outrun a little old woman and a little old man, and I can outrun you too.
01:42Run, run, as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man.
01:47It was not long before the gingerbread man saw a cow grazing at the edge of the woods.
01:52Stop little man, I'm very hungry.
01:56But the gingerbread man was just too fast for the cow.
01:59I've outrun a little old woman and a little old man, and a big fat pig, and I can outrun you.
02:04Run, run, as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man.
02:09The cow decided to chase the gingerbread man too, right behind the pig and the little old man and the little old woman.
02:16But the gingerbread man was just too fast.
02:19A little further on, the gingerbread man came upon a horse.
02:22Stop running, I want to eat you.
02:25But the gingerbread man did not stop.
02:28I've outrun a little old woman, a little old man, a big fat pig, and a lazy cow, and I'll outrun you too.
02:35Run, run, as fast as you can. You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man.
02:39Of course, the horse did not like being taunted.
02:43So he too chased the gingerbread man, behind the cow, the pig, the little old man and the little old woman.
02:49But still, the gingerbread man ran even faster.
02:54Soon he came to a rushing river.
02:56Oh no, if I get wet, I'll melt. But if I don't, they'll catch me. What do I do?
03:03Just then, a sneaky fox appeared and said,
03:06I can help you across the river. Climb onto my back and I'll swim across.
03:13The gingerbread man did not trust the fox.

03:22The gingerbread man decided that trusting the fox was better than being caught
03:26by the horse, the cow, the pig and the little old man and the little old woman.
03:30So he climbed up onto the fox's back and together they swam across the river.
03:36They were about halfway there when the fox said,
03:39I'm getting tired. You should climb up onto my head.
03:44So the gingerbread man did.
03:46They were about three quarters of the way there when the fox said,
03:50I'm getting tired again. You should climb onto my nose.
03:56So the gingerbread man did.
03:58They reached the other side of the river.
04:00And before the gingerbread man could climb down,
04:03the fox flicked his nose and tossed the gingerbread man high into the air.
04:07He opened his mouth as wide as he could and...
04:09CHOMP! CHOMP! CHOMP! CHOMP! CHOMP!
04:12And that was the end of the gingerbread man.
