00:00Today, we have presented the Shukla Paksha of Shravan month with the story of Putradaya Ekadashi Vrat.
00:07So, let's start with the story of Putradaya Ekadashi Vrat.
00:12Yudhishthir said,
00:14O Madhusudana, what is the name of Shravan Shukla Ekadashi?
00:18Please tell us the method of its Vrat and its greatness.
00:23Shri Krishna said,
00:24O King, the name of this Ekadashi is Putradaya. Now listen to its story peacefully.
00:31In the beginning of Dwapar Yuga, there was a city named Mahishmati,
00:35in which a king named Mahijit ruled.
00:38But due to the absence of a son, the king did not find the kingdom to be pleasant.
00:44The one who does not have a child, he finds this world and the other world to be painful.
00:50For the happiness of the son, the king did many remedies.
00:54But the king did not get a son.
00:57Seeing the coming of the Vrat, the king called his subjects and said,
01:03O subjects, I have not committed any sin in this birth.
01:07There is no money in my treasure that I have earned unjustly.
01:12Nor have I ever snatched the wealth of the gods and the Brahmins.
01:15I have not taken anyone else's property.
01:18I have raised my subjects like my own sons.
01:21I have also punished the criminals like my own sons and nephews.
01:25I have never been rude to anyone.
01:27I have treated everyone equally.
01:29I have always worshipped the good people.
01:32In this way, even though I rule a religious kingdom, I do not have a son.
01:36So I am very sad. What is the reason for this?
01:40To think about this, the ministers and the subjects went to the forest.
01:47And while visiting the great sages and sages,
01:50for the fulfillment of the king's best wishes,
01:53they kept seeing a great ascetic monk.
01:57In an ashram, they saw a great ascetic,
02:00who was aware of a very vast religion,
02:02who was devoted to God,
02:04who was devoted to God,
02:06who was devoted to God,
02:08who was devoted to God,
02:10who was devoted to God,
02:12who was devoted to God,
02:14who was devoted to God,
02:16and when complete love fell, one Greek man fell.
02:19All went and prostrated to the rishi,
02:21and sat in front of him.
02:23When the monks saw them, the ascetic asked,
02:26why you have come?
02:28Without a doubt, I will do wholesome work for you.
02:31my birth is only for the benefit of others,
02:34so do not hesitate.
02:36Upon hearing such words of the Lomash rishi,
02:38everyone said,
02:40Oh ruler, you are more capable than Brahma in knowing our words,
02:44So please clear this doubt of ours.
02:46Mahishmati Puri's Dharmatma Raja Mahijit
02:49treats his subjects like his own son.
02:52But still, he is very sad because he has lost his son.
02:56We are his subjects.
02:58So, we are also sad because of his sadness.
03:01We have complete faith in your darshan
03:04that this problem of ours will surely be solved.
03:07Because the darshan of great men alone
03:09can solve many problems.
03:11Now kindly tell us how to become a king's son.
03:16Hearing this, the sage closed his eyes for a while.
03:20And after knowing about the king's first birth, he said
03:24that this king was a poor farmer in his previous birth.
03:27Because of being poor, he did many bad deeds.
03:31He used to go from one village to another
03:33to do business.
03:36One day, on the 12th day of Shukla Paksha of Jyeshtha month,
03:40in the afternoon,
03:42when he was hungry and thirsty for two days,
03:44he went to drink water on a stream.
03:47At that place, a pregnant thirsty cow was drinking water.
03:51The king removed that thirsty cow while drinking water.
03:54And started drinking water himself.
03:56That's why the king had to bear this pain.
03:59On the 11th day, he became a king because of being hungry.
04:03And by removing the thirsty cow while drinking water,
04:06the pain of losing his son is increasing.
04:08Hearing this, everyone started saying
04:10that this sage has also written a letter of repentance for sins in the scriptures.
04:14So, if this sin of the king gets erased,
04:17please tell us a solution.
04:19Lomas Muni started saying that
04:21to Shravan Shukla Paksha's Ekadashi,
04:23who is also known as the son's Ekadashi,
04:26all of you should fast.
04:27And also stay awake at night.
04:29By doing this, the king's previous birth sin will definitely get erased.
04:33Also, the king will get a son.
04:36After hearing such words of Lomas Rishi,
04:38all the ministers and people returned to the city.
04:42And when Shravan Shukla Ekadashi came,
04:44then as per Lomas Rishi's order,
04:46the king and everyone fasted and stayed awake for the son's Ekadashi.
04:50After this, on the 12th day, the king was given the fruit of his good deeds.
04:55Due to the effect of that good deed, the queen became pregnant.
04:59And after the delivery period ended,
05:01she gave birth to a very bright son.
05:04That's why, O King,
05:06the name of this Shravan Shukla Ekadashi is the son's Ekadashi.
05:09So, those who wish for the happiness of their children,
05:12should definitely do this fast.
05:14By listening to its importance,
05:16humans become free from all sins.
05:18And by experiencing the happiness of children in this world,
05:21heaven is attained in the next world.
05:24In this way, the story of the son's Ekadashi fast came to an end.
05:27Jai Shri Krishna Radhe Radhe
05:30Jai Lakshmi Narayan
