00:00A Russian missile hit a Ukrainian mall located in the town of Kostiantynivka.
00:12Farmers voiced their opposition against the EU-backed lithium mine in their valley.
00:21Dramatic body cam footage of officers responding to the Trump assassination attempt have been
00:27released.
00:33A week after his release as part of a prison exchange deal between Russia and Western countries,
00:39Ilya Yashin met his supporters in Berlin.
00:43More than 2,000 people came to meet the Russian opposition activist.
00:47In 2022, he was sentenced to eight and a half years behind bars because he spoke up against
00:54the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
00:56Yashin worked with and was close friend of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
01:24Many wonder if Yashin could become the new leader of Russian opposition.
01:54Whilst in prison, Yashin got over 30,000 letters and encouraged his supporters to write to
02:02activists who are still behind bars in Russia.
02:24Goritsa Grancharova Kozareva will be the new caretaker prime minister of Bulgaria after
02:40being appointed by President Roman Radev.
02:45The appointment follows Dmitar Glavchev's withdrawal from the position.
02:52On Friday morning, Radev tasked Kozareva with forming a new caretaker government.
02:59She is the second woman to serve as Bulgaria's prime minister.
03:08Has the German government learned its lesson from North Stream 2?
03:12Apparently, yes.
03:14German Chancellor Olaf Scholz paid a surprise visit to Belgrade a few weeks ago to sign
03:19a major lithium mining deal with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in a bid to reduce the EU's
03:25dependency on China.
03:27Germany has ambitions to build 15 million electric vehicles by 2030 to keep its automobile
03:34industry afloat which the German economy is largely dependent upon.
03:39But widespread protests are planned across Serbia this weekend with more than half of
03:45the Serbian population rejecting plans to mine in the Jadar Valley.
03:50These plans are not only controversial due to the environmental cost of mining but also
03:56because of the politics.
03:57EU countries such as Austria, Portugal and the Czech Republic have large quantities of
04:03lithium in them so it seems that the EU just wants to keep the dirty work outside of its
04:08own backyard.
04:10Liv Stroud, in Berlin, for Euronews.
04:15What started these right-wing protests?
04:20Misinformation surrounding the murder of three young girls.
04:24I won't shy away from calling it what it is.
04:27Far-right thuggery.
04:31Last night in towns and cities across the UK though, thousands of anti-fascist protesters
04:37outnumbered right-wing groups.
04:40But the anti-immigrant sentiment has arguably been bubbling under the surface for many years.
04:46It led the Conservative government to propose plans to fly immigrants to migrant camps in
04:52Rwanda and to put them in barges like this one off the coast.
04:56The Labour government has now scrapped these policies, calling them gimmicks and a waste
05:01of taxpayer money.
05:03For now at least, those inside Number 10 will be extremely relieved that anti-fascist protests
05:08have helped quell recent racist unrest.
05:11But the new government now has to pick up the pieces after years of Conservative anti-immigration
05:16rhetoric and failed policies, which ultimately heightened tensions.
05:21All eyes will now be on the Prime Minister and how he chooses to navigate this political
05:27tightrope.
05:28There is a difference between responsible politicians and irresponsible politicians.
05:32Dr Nigel Fletcher is a former adviser to Prime Minister David Cameron and believes Labour
05:37must now do what the Conservatives couldn't and take meaningful action around migration.
05:43Labour not only have to solve it, but also solve it in a way that is markedly and demonstrably
05:49different in tone and substance to how the Conservative government were seeking to respond
05:55to it.
05:56Because if they continue with some of the rhetoric and some of the hardline policies
06:02that the previous government has, they will alienate parts of their own party.
06:07The UK government has recently announced plans for a new border security command to tackle
06:13human smuggling gangs.
06:15This reflects the broader European struggle with migration.
06:19As the political landscape evolves, the challenge is to implement effective, humane policies
06:25that appease both sides of the political spectrum.

06:32Where there are tourists, there are pickpockets.
06:36This is also the case in Barcelona, where many visitors to the city end up leaving without
06:41a phone, wallet, passport or even all three.
06:45Some Spanish citizens say the police are doing too little to combat the issue, so they decided
06:50to take matters into their own hands.
06:53Our way of operating consists of patrolling the subway or buses.
07:00And above all, we manage to record their faces and publish them on social media,
07:05which is what hurts them the most.
07:07Because the police don't have the tools, because the state doesn't provide them,
07:11what hurts them the most and what they always try to avoid is that we take their faces.
07:17And that's what we do on social media.
07:21Guerrero says that in recent years, the pickpocketing situation in Barcelona has become even worse,
07:27saying that both theft and violent robberies have increased exponentially.
07:38I'm going to put on this handkerchief.
07:41What we want to achieve with this movement is to change the laws
07:46so that pickpocketers can't steal a wallet or a mobile phone for free.
07:50Because now they can't do anything.
07:52They can leave you without your passport, without your money, without your mobile phone
07:56and nothing happens.
08:03A passenger plane carrying 62 people crashed in a residential area in the city of ViΓ±edo
08:09in Sao Paulo state.
08:11The airplane departed from Cascavel in the state of ParanΓ‘
08:15and was headed for Sao Paulo's international airport.
08:18Brazil's President Luiz InΓ‘cio Lula da Silva was attending an event in the south of Brazil
08:24and asked everyone to stand for a minute of silence.
08:27He said that it appeared that none of the 58 passengers and 4 crew members survived the crash,
08:33although did not specify where he received that information.
08:36The cause of the crash is not yet known.
08:41In suburbs to the north and east of Paris,
08:43more than a quarter of the population live below the poverty line.
08:47But the suburbs also house Olympic stadiums and swimming pools.
08:51Residents are right on top of it all but rarely go to the competitions themselves.
08:57The Olympic village is located in the suburb of Saint Denis.
09:00Thousands of apartments currently being used for athletes will soon be intended for residents
09:05but the initial figure has decreased.
09:11Today it is reduced to 20%.
09:13In this equation, 80% will be sold at an excessively high price
09:19so that people who live here will not be able to access it.
09:29Some suburbs are trying to bridge the gap between the poverty of their residents
09:33and the gold medals won just a few kilometers away.
09:37They are setting up fan zones which organize sports and activities
09:41and broadcast the games live, all for free.
