00:00Good morning, my name is Phil Hewitt, Group Arts Editor at Sussex Newspapers. Always lovely
00:06to speak to Joe Pettit, which I always seem to do at this time of year, because, Joe,
00:10you always play Eastbourne at this time of year. Now, you're going to be in Eastbourne
00:15with the LP Swing Orchestra for a show entitled At The Movies. Now, you have a long connection
00:21with Eastbourne, which is lovely, it goes back many years, doesn't it?
00:26It does indeed, yeah, way back to about 2010 when I first started running the band.
00:31And you started at Eastbourne because you knew Chris, Chris Jordan?
00:35Yeah, Chris Jordan, fantastic guy, and he is the Artistic Director there at the Congress
00:40Theatres, and he was keen to have a big band on their programme, and we were keen to find
00:45a venue down in the South Coast.
00:48And this time of year, seaside venues is what you need, isn't it? That's where people are.
00:52Exactly, it's where people are, yeah, we follow the people.
00:55And this year then, the theme is At The Movies. Now, it must be fun to think of a theme, it
01:00must be fun to design a programme. What have you got? What are the highlights of At The
01:06Movies for this year?
01:07Yeah, so I love songs from the shows, and the movie theme tracks in particular. So Cole
01:13Porter, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, all those MGM classics, and then some James Bond
01:19themes. We've got some Disney things from Aladdin and Lady and the Tramp. We've got
01:27just some brilliant stuff from High Society, which is a fabulous movie, which starred Frank
01:31Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Grace Kelly, along with Louis Armstrong. So we've got a really,
01:37the tricky thing was narrowing it down, really, we could have been there for days.
01:41Well, you could come back next year with At The Movies too, couldn't you?
01:45That's right, yeah, yeah.
01:46Brilliant. Good. Well, nice to speak to you again. Take care.
01:49And you too, thanks.
01:50I hope it all goes brilliantly in this form. Thanks.
01:51Thank you very much.
