00:00Now, three years after he became India's golden boy, Neeraj Chopra will have the chance to win a second straight Olympic title when he competes in the javelin final at the Paris Olympics later today.
00:13Chopra became the only India's second individual Olympic gold medalist after Abhinav Bindra when he comfortably took the title at Tokyo 2020.
00:22And he is looking good to defend his crown this time as well.
00:26While Chopra laid down the marker during the qualification stage in Paris, he delivered his second best throw ever with his first effort, getting a distance of 89.34 meters.
00:37And that meant that he comfortably passed the 84-meter mark required for qualification.
00:43Chopra's throw was the best during the preliminary stages and the reigning world champion is the favorite to win the title.
00:49Chopra's main competitors will be Germany's Julian Weber, two-time world champion Anderson Peters and world number one, Jakub Wadlich.
00:5926-year-old Chopra has already won every major global title and he once again carries a nation's hopes in what has otherwise been a disappointing campaign for India this year.
01:10Chopra, though won't be the only representative from South Asia, Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem has also made the final and Nadeem finished second of the 2023 World Championship behind his friend and rival Neera Chopra.
01:27Nadeem sent his good wishes to Chopra ahead of the final.
01:30Nadeem is the first Pakistani to qualify for the final of any track and field event in the history of the Olympics.
