09:46Hi, everyone.
09:47My name is Frank.
09:48I'm a New York City firefighter with Brooklyn's Engine Company 227.
09:52And I love my job.
09:53But to do my job, I need to wear special clothes to protect myself.
09:57To start, I have boots that are steel-tipped and water-protected.
10:02The pants are fire-protected with knee pads to protect my knees.
10:07My jacket is also fire-protected with reflectors so all the firefighters can see us when we're
10:11operating.
10:12I have a light so when we're in dark rooms, we can try and see where we're going.
10:19What I have here is a face piece.
10:21We carry our own air to a fire so we can breathe when it's smoky.
10:26Also, we have hoods that are going to protect our ears and neck from heat and fire.
10:32And last, we have our helmet to protect our heads.
10:36And that's the uniform of a New York City firefighter.
10:39Very interesting.
10:41Tell us more.
10:43To get to a fire, we have a fire engine.
10:46It takes all the firefighters and it has everything we need to fight a fire.
10:49Water, hoses, ladders.
10:52It has lights and sirens so people know we're coming and they can get out of our way so
10:56we can get to the fire.

23:47The pack, the pack, the pack, the pack!
23:57Hi everybody, I'm Henry the Octopus, and I love swimming.
24:03Oh, I always try and stay safe when I swim, so I swim with a friend, and you should too.
24:11Here's Kieran Perkins, Australia's Olympic swimming gold medalist, to tell you all about swimming.
24:19Everybody, when it's hot outside, it's a great time to go swimming.
24:23And lots of people go swimming in their backyard pool, or down the road there's the big council pool,
24:28or there's a dam in the country, you might have a dam or a creek to swim in.
24:32But when you're swimming, there are a few things to think about for safety.
24:36It's lots of fun swimming, don't get me wrong, but there are some safety things you must think about, everybody.
24:41Yes, you must think about them.
24:42Well, to help us think about those things, and also the great fun things about swimming,
24:46we have the greatest swimming family in the world, the Perkins family.
24:49Here they are.
24:50This is Kieran and Samantha, Harry and Georgia.
24:54G'day, guys.
24:55How are you?
24:55Anthony, how are you?
24:56Good, good.
24:57Now, we're talking about swimming.
24:59Now, Samantha, what's some of the fun things about swimming?
25:01What do you like about swimming, and the whole family going swimming?
25:04Well, I think it's something that's really fun for the whole family to do,
25:08but there's a couple of serious things too, Anthony,
25:10and that is that no matter how old your children are as parents,
25:14we should get them to learn to swim.
25:16Now, the good time is probably the summer of their first birthday,
25:19and just get them in there, take them down to the local pool.
25:22There should be learn-to-swim lessons.
25:24The other thing too is, apart from just learning how to swim,
25:27it's important to dress right for swimming,
25:29because in Australia the sun's really hot, that's right.
25:32You've got your togs or bathers on,
25:34depending on which state you come from, Queensland or New South Wales.
25:38A hat.
25:39What else do we have on when we go swimming?
25:41Board shorts.
25:41Board shorts.
25:42And what do we do?
25:43That's right, sun cream.
25:44We always put sun cream on our faces, don't we?
25:46Now, when do you go swimming?
25:48Should you swim alone, or should you go with a friend,
25:51or make sure that a grown-up's there, like maybe mum or dad?
25:54A lot of parents sometimes think, oh, look, the kids can swim now,
25:57so they'll be all right in the pool by themselves.
25:59But it's really never a good idea to leave the kids alone.
26:02We always watch the kids,
26:03even if they're just in a blow-up pool in the front yard.
26:06Funnily enough, we've never actually owned a pool at our house.
26:09Oh, OK.
26:10So we used to buy the little blow-up pool,
26:12and we'd always watch the kids,
26:14even if the water was only a couple of foot deep,
26:16because kids can drown in any amount of water.
26:19So it's great to have fun, but you've always got to be on the lookout,
26:21because if you teach them how to swim, it could be a lifesaver one day.
26:25Now, Kieran, after all that hard work and training,
26:28you've been in the Olympics and have done lots of brilliant things.
26:31Can you tell everybody about it?
26:33Well, in my career, I went to three Olympic Games,
26:36and I won two gold medals and two silver medals,
26:39and I actually won medals in three Olympics
26:42in the 1,500 metres freestyle in a row.
26:45I broke 11 world records, two world championships,
26:48a few Commonwealth Games gold medals in there as well,
26:52and Pan Pacific titles also.
26:54Everybody, isn't that wiggly amazing?
26:57Hey, let's go swimming!
26:59Get your towel and a hat,
27:02dab some sunscreen on your skin,
27:05dip your toes in the water,
27:08it's time to swim with a friend.
27:11We're swimming, swimming at the pool.
27:15Let's go swimming, water's oh so cool.
27:21Let's go swimming, swimming at the pool.
