Largest Nuclear Bomb: Tsar Bomba The "Tsar Bomba" is the largest nuclear bomb ever detonated. Developed by the Soviet Union, it was tested on October 30, 1961. The bomb had a yield of around 50 megatons, which is equivalent to 50 million tons of TNT. It was originally designed to have a yield of 100 megatons, but it was scaled down for the test. The explosion was so powerful that it shattered windows in Finland and caused a mushroom cloud that reached an altitude of about 60 kilometers.
Greenest Nuclear Bomb The term "greenest" in the context of nuclear weapons usually refers to designs that aim to minimize environmental contamination, especially radioactive fallout. Pure fusion bombs, which theoretically could release energy without the need for a fission reaction, are often considered the "greenest" nuclear weapons because they would produce significantly less radioactive fallout compared to fission or fission-fusion bombs.
