The Philippines is currently experiencing heavy rains and flooding, particularly in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon, due to the effects of Super Typhoon Carina (international name: Gaemi). This super typhoon has intensified, bringing significant rainfall and strong winds to the region.

Several areas, including Metro Manila, have been placed under a state of calamity due to the severe weather conditions. The enhanced southwest monsoon, or "habagat," is contributing to the continuous heavy rains, leading to widespread flooding and the evacuation of thousands of residents.

Forecasts indicate that heavy to intense rain will continue over the next few days, with the northern parts of the Philippines, including the Batanes and Babuyan Islands, expected to receive moderate to heavy rain. Strong to gale-force winds are also anticipated in various regions, making travel and daily activities challenging​
