00:33Can you tell us about the GSIS Emergency Loan Program
00:38to help the members and pensioners affected by Bagyong Carina and Habagat?
00:46Ninia, GSIS approved P18.5 billion to be exact for the emergency loan
00:59that can help 864,000 members and pensioners affected by Bagyong Carina and Habagat in Batangas, Rizal, and here in the National Capital Region.
01:13These areas were declared as calamity areas.
01:19That's why we are providing financial assistance for the rapid recovery of our members and pensioners.
01:26As you know, here in NCR, we have more or less 742,000 members.
01:33Here in Batangas, we have more than 61,000 members.
01:36In Rizal, we have 60,800 members.
01:44Sir Wick, can you explain who are eligible for this emergency loan and how important it is?
01:53Active members who do not have unpaid leave, no pending administrative or legal cases,
02:03and who are eligible to pay a 6-month premium before applying are eligible for this.
02:11Their take-home pay should not be less than P5,000, as per the General Appropriations Act.
02:20They can borrow up to P40,000 to pay their previous loan and receive a net value of P20,000.
02:34For those who do not have a current loan, they can apply for P20,000.
02:40I mentioned earlier, because some are asking, if they have a previous loan, if they had an emergency,
02:48it is important that your loan should not exceed P20,000.
02:56The interest rate is 6 percent per year and there is a three-year repayment period for them.
03:09When will the process of applications for the GSIS Emergency Loan start?

04:36how can the GSIS help the school buildings that were damaged by the typhoon Karina and Habagat?
04:43As you know, the government, through our Bureau of Treasury,
04:49prioritized the implementation of a National Indemnity Insurance Program or NIIP
04:56for the current shortage of funds when there is an emergency.
05:01If this program is not implemented,
05:03the budget must be re-aligned or a new fund must be sought
05:07for the next year to cover the expenses in the implementation of the government's assets.
05:16Through NIIP, we can provide immediate liquidity
05:21so that the funds for the reconstruction and rehabilitation
05:27of the damaged areas of the government, such as the school buildings.
05:31Under this program, the GSIS will insure
05:35more than 132,000 public school buildings
05:41of the Department of Education with an insurance worth more than P843 billion.
05:50The GSIS is now coordinating with the Bureau of Treasury and DepEd
05:55to assess the damaged school buildings
05:59and receive a formal report
06:04so that we can start paying the claims.
