00:00Ursula von der Leyen has been re-elected as President of the European Commission for a second term.
00:08She received a strong support in a make-or-break vote in the European Parliament.
00:14Votes in favour, 401.
00:17The German EPP candidate got better result than the one she got the first time she was elected in 2019.
00:35A majority that gives her a stronger mandate than the previous one.
00:39Which was reflected in the greetings she got from the S&D, Renew, the Greens and even the Left.
00:46But her victory was not certain as she had to negotiate with Right and Left.
00:51Something that could be seen in the promises she made during her speech.
00:55As defence, competitiveness and housing were on her list of promises.
01:00Despite the vote being secret, most of the European Parliament groups made clear their intentions.
01:07And although there were some dissents, the centrist groups including EPP, S&D, Greens and Renew Europe voted in favour.
01:16While the extremes, both the Left and the Far Right, voted against.
