00:00It's been a real mixture of reaction today, especially online. People reacting to the
00:04news that came out around about a day ago now that 21 young people, all under the age of 18,
00:10were hospitalised on that night, on the 29th of June, who attended that Drum and Bass event,
00:17as you say there. They've also found out today that all Drum and Bass events in the immediate
00:22future have now been cancelled. Some people turning their attention to Dreamland, asking
00:27questions of them, how could they allow this to happen in a venue of such prominence. Others
00:32turning their attention and the blame to those bad actors who clearly decided to bring illicit
00:38substances to the event. Now, I have been speaking with Ian today, he's one of the attendees there.
00:46He was actually telling me that he was surprised that a major incident had even occurred.
00:51I couldn't have enjoyed it any more, to be honest. That just went with the flow of the music,
00:57really. So to me, I was a little bit surprised when the vast number came out, I must admit.
01:04They've described it as a major incident on the night, you couldn't tell?
01:08No, I think they put out saying they were very close to closing the event or something.
01:12None of that was ever felt like it was going to happen.
01:17But yeah, I mean, I would like to say I was shocked at the vast number
01:22of people who really were in trouble by the sounds of it.
01:28Now you heard Ian there saying that the event was close to being cancelled. That was actually
01:33the words of Kent Police, who have released a document which recommends for the licence,
01:37which allows Dreamland to put on events like these, to be reviewed by Thanet District Council.
01:43They've also, in that document, given us a bit of a timeline from their perspective
01:47as to what happened. We know the event began at 1pm with roughly 7,000 tickets purchased for the
01:53event. Throughout the afternoon, people were being ejected with suspected intoxication. At 5pm,
02:00a man was arrested on suspicion of intent to supply. He was found with illegal drugs on his
02:05person. At 6pm, officers found a 17-year-old boy who had fallen ill. They called an ambulance for
02:12him. And then it was shortly after then, at 5pm, that the 17-year-old girl who you mentioned there,
02:17who we now know is named Emily Stokes, was confirmed to be deceased. At 7pm, so an hour
02:25later, a major incident was finally declared. Officers considering to close the event and pull
02:31the plug, deciding against that because of the sheer amount of people who were here. But of
02:36course, 17-year-old Emily Stokes, who has died, we don't know the exact circumstances surrounding
02:42her death at this stage. A report is being prepared for the coroner, but her family have
02:46been online to describe her as the kindest person you could ever meet.
