00:00["God Save the Queen"]
00:31It is our fervent wish that Your Majesty may long continue
00:36to reign over us as our Sovereign
00:39and as successor to the Dukes of Normandy.
00:44Diaso lewa.
00:49["God Save the Queen"]
00:54["God Save the Queen"]
00:58I am so very grateful to you and to the States
01:02for the warm welcome you have given to both my wife and myself
01:07and for the assurances of devotion, loyalty and allegiance
01:11to the Crown you have expressed on behalf of the people of Guernsey.
01:18My wife and I have many happy memories
01:22of the welcome we received in 2012
01:26when we were last in the Bailiwick to mark my late mother's diamond jubilee.
01:33We were fortunate to meet so many islanders on that occasion
01:38and to see so clearly the great regard and affection
01:43for Her Late Majesty from the people of the Bailiwick.
01:48We are delighted to be able to return once again
01:53and we look forward to meeting more people
01:56from the wonderful islands which comprise this Bailiwick.
02:03I know that this area holds special meaning for many reasons
02:09as it is very close to where the liberating troops
02:13were so eagerly welcomed by the populace in 1945
02:19as they freed the islands from wartime occupation.
02:25It is also where, with pride and joy, many people here today
02:30welcomed the competitors when you hosted the Island Games last year.
02:38The Bailiwick has one of the oldest connections to the Crown.
02:44It is therefore a great joy to be here among you once more today
02:50to celebrate the close and special relationship which connects us.
02:57I pray that the blessing of Almighty God
03:02will attend all your deliberations for the benefit and prosperity
03:08of this island and the other islands of the Bailiwick.
03:13Thank you.
03:43Thank you very much.
