00:00How lucky are we that in Burnley we have this incredible venue, which meant we could continue

00:13to have the Burnley Business Awards in Burnley.

00:15I'm really proud to be the principal at Burnley College, but even prouder still to be the

00:20headline sponsor for the most amazing Burnley Business Awards we have ever had.

00:25These awards are fully funded by ticket sales and sponsorships, so we could not do it without

00:31our partners and sponsors, our judges who give up their time completely for free and

00:35it is no mean feat getting through all those applications.

00:39I love hosting the Burnley Business Awards because I'm from Burnley, I live in Burnley,

00:43and it's just a celebration of everything that's good about the town.

00:47Burnley's town is thriving, Burnley's university numbers are growing, potentially up to 6,000

00:52in a few years.

00:53So we're a university time, we're a time for business, we're a time for community, and

00:57we're a successful time that's going somewhere.

01:00You can see that from the turnout, all of the businesses, it feels like it's the centre

01:04of the universe, should I say, tonight.

01:06Burnley's a buzz.

01:07This is one of the highlights of the year for Burnley, and we're really honoured and

01:11privileged to be here.

01:13You know, all of our businesses in Burnley, they're so modest because they do the extraordinary

01:19but they think it's ordinary.

01:22And today, to be able to reward all of those extraordinary things that our businesses do

01:27is just fantastic.

01:30And the winner is Miro Products.

01:33She is joyous and cheering and shouting and screaming and hugging each other and, you

01:37know, grown men getting very emotional.

01:39The winner is Financial Affairs.

01:43The winner is ESP Play.

01:47Burnley is home to a wide array of thriving businesses.

01:53We are a town that innovates, and we're proud to have businesses here that are recognised

02:00by the King, the late Queen, and even as far as Hollywood.

02:05The winner is Big in a Whirlwind.

02:11The winner is Life Bar Supplements.

02:16The winner is AMSD.

02:20And the winner goes to Dave and the Innovation Team of course.

02:27And the winner is Recycle IT.

02:3120% of Burnley's jobs are in advanced manufacturing compared to 8% of the national average.

02:3885% of our businesses are micro-businesses, which show Burnley's entrepreneurial spirit.

02:45We're a town that innovates.

02:47We all pull together to get the job done.

02:51You continue to make game-changing products and inspire the next generation and put Burnley

02:58on the global stage.

03:00And I'm proud to see 600 Burnley ambassadors in the room tonight.

03:07And the winner is The Lawrence Hotel.

03:20And the winner is Emily O'Keefe.

03:29The Business Winner of the Year is AMSD.

03:35So I am absolutely delighted to reveal the Lifetime Achievement Award.

03:50A completely shocked Lifetime Achievement Award.

03:53I can't believe it.

03:55I'm speechless.

03:56It's not right often.

03:57I have nothing to say or I can't believe it.

04:06My legs are shaking and my blood pressure's gone up tenfold.

04:12The outfits were amazing.

04:14I think Burnley scrubs up very well.

04:16The achievements that you see from Business on Our Own doorstep are just mind-blowing.

04:21Hosting the Burnley Business Awards is the biggest event that Crowwood has hosted today.

04:26And I'm really proud of the entire team.

04:29They've been superb.

04:30As a business owner in Burnley, I can tell you that we do do a lot to try to make our mark.

04:36What an amazing landscape to be a part of.

04:38I would add just there, I don't know if you want to edit this,

04:40that boogying at the end was absolutely amazing though.

04:43What an absolutely fabulous night.

04:45Yeah, I'm proud of myself but at the same time I didn't expect it.

04:49So yeah, it was a nice surprise.

04:51To win both Large Business of the Year and Employee of the Year is just fantastic.

04:55It's a testament to the staff we've got.

04:58Everybody's really completely made up and it's going to take months before this wears off.

05:02So I can heartily recommend it.

05:04We're very proud to make the best audio equipment

05:07and supply that to the top studios all over the world from right here in Burnley.

05:11This award means so much to us but it also means so much to the people of Paddyham as well.

05:15It's a testament to the regeneration of Paddyham

05:17and what a brilliant vibe that we're creating in Paddyham right now.

05:20Burnley Bondholders is amazing.

05:22We've got an amazing business community.

05:24Everybody pulls together. Everybody's smiling.

05:27What a great town we've got. The Burnley Bondholders rocks.

05:30To see 600 people involved here at this event at Cromwood Hotel has been fantastic.

05:37The camaraderie, the team ethic, just the whole event has been superb.

05:42The company's been excellent and the atmosphere has been superb.

05:46We've received a highly commended award for the Employer of the Year.

05:50So it's great to be here at the Burnley Business Awards.

05:52We're a big part of the town, huge employer, a lot of history in the area.

05:55I'm really proud of the work that everyone does in the organisation.

05:58Really grateful for all the people that are here to celebrate that with us tonight.

06:01It's an emotional thing all round.

06:03When you see those winners go up and collect their awards on stage.

06:07Just brilliant. Absolutely fabulous.

06:10Well done to the whole Burnley Council team for putting this on.

06:14Do you know why I'm really humbled to have been able to be a part of

06:18presenting some awards to the winners?

06:21What they're achieving day in day out, they might not know what an impact that they're having.

06:26But they're turning a table at a tide that's existed for a long time

06:31and they're really putting Burnley in a good place.

06:33So I would say well done, you're amazing, keep doing what you're doing

06:37and just hopefully we'll see you next time.
