00:09along with other countries.
00:11From Darwin, Australia, let's get an update from Patrick de Jesus live.
00:18Audrey, the contingent of the Philippine Air Force in Lalahok
00:25in the Pitch Black Exercises 2024 has arrived in Darwin, Australia.
00:30The contingent of the Philippine Air Force in Lalahok has arrived in Darwin, Australia
00:36from Europe, America and Asia
00:39along with the Philippines which is one of the newly joined multilateral exercises.
00:46Yesterday, the F-A-50 fighter jets of the Philippine Air Force arrived in Australia
00:51which they will use for training.
00:54The Pitch Black Exercises will be held next week
00:58and the activities will be held in the Northern Territory of Australia
01:02which is considered to be the largest in the history of the Pitch Black.
01:06This year, more than 100 aircrafts will be trained.
01:09Every two years, the Pitch Black Exercises are conducted since 1981.
01:14The PATH first clarified that it has nothing to do with the current issues in our territory
01:19which is the Philippines joining the Pitch Black Exercises.
01:22We, as a multinational coalition, if you can see
01:27we will be looking at those traditional security challenges and it's not on a threat itself.
01:33One of the goals of the exercises is to maintain order and peace in the region.
01:39But China will notice that it is not included.
01:41Why is that?
01:42Royal Australian Air Force replied.
01:44The invites for the exercises went out about a year or two ago
01:48and at that stage, it was inappropriate for us to invite China.
01:51From our government perspective, we didn't believe that it was appropriate.
01:56Meanwhile, the French Air Force visited the Philippines this month
02:01which is a part of strengthening our relationship with our country.
02:04And for the first time, their Rafale fighter aircraft will be deployed.
02:09The sentiment of this deployment, we want to give the message that France
02:17is attached to the freedom of navigation in the free international airspace
02:23and that's what we want to demonstrate that we are able to deploy everywhere
02:30in the free airspace and there are no forbidden airspaces for our aircraft.
02:37Audrey, behind me are the fighter jets of other countries
02:42who joined the Pitch Black Exercises 2024.
02:46Only six countries are new to the so-called multilateral exercises
02:52and one of them is the Philippines.
02:55Next week, the exercises will start under the Pitch Black Exercises 2024
03:00and this is a good opportunity for the pilots of the Philippine Air Force
03:06to have a new knowledge and experience.
03:10Especially for those who are familiar, Audrey, if you can remember,
03:13President Ferdinand Armatos Jr. approved the purchase of new
03:17multilateral fighter jets or MRFs.
03:20That's all for now.
03:23From Darwin, Australia, back to you, Audrey.
03:26Thank you very much, Patrick de Jesus.
