00:00Welcome to NATO. It's great to see you again, but this time for the first time at the NATO Summit
00:06and the first time as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. So congratulations on your election
00:11victory and it's great to see you here at NATO in your new position, so a few days after you
00:18took office. We're going to celebrate the 75th anniversary of our Alliance during our Summit,
00:25and the United Kingdom is one of the founding members of our Alliance, but not only that,
00:31the United Kingdom was one of the driving forces for the creation of NATO back in 1949.
00:39You are a staunch and important NATO ally. The United Kingdom spends more than 2% of GDP
00:44on defence, and I welcome your ambition to move to 2.5%. Thank you very much for those warm words
00:52and thank you for your congratulations. We are very pleased to be here so early on in the
00:57administration of the Labour government of 2024, reaffirming our unshakable support for NATO. We
01:03are very proud of the fact that we were a founding member of NATO and that if you go to Brussels to
01:10your headquarters and look at the original treaty, you see the signature of our Labour Secretary of
01:16that document.
