00:00Good morning everybody and thank you very much for bearing with us through the night.

00:08May I please thank the returning officer, the election teams, all of those in the public station,

00:17those who have been at the camps overnight and in this morning,

00:23making sure that we had a free and fair election and thank you to the returning officer and our local police for this.

00:33May I turn to my amazing team.

00:37I am so proud and honoured to be the Member of Parliament for the new constituency of East Rimsford,

00:46Upfield and the Villages. It is truly humbling to take this honour this morning.

00:55May I turn to my fellow candidates who have been astoundingly lovely.

01:01So thank you very much for a really hard-fought, close election in really positive terms.

01:11All candidates standing in the election of course have wanted to have the trust put into them that I have had for this wonderful new constituency

01:25and I will look forward to giving a voice to those who have put that trust in me on the ballot and those who didn't.

01:35Two great, truly great towns and many magnificent villages and special communities I am truly honoured to represent.

01:47On the wider picture, it's been a difficult night.

01:52Despite the height of summer, it has been a dark night and dark morning for the Conservative Party despite some bright spots.

02:04But to my friends, supporters and the voters, those with Conservative values and those who have other values,

02:13I will stand up for all of you in tough times.

02:18And it's now time for my party and our own local teams to make sure that those Conservative voices and values are heard and respected.

02:30We will hold the new Prime Minister and Government to account.

02:35Standing up for lower taxes, immigration, jobs, apprenticeships, aspirations and opportunities

02:43and local investment and chances for our young people in our wonderful communities.

02:50And we will make sure that there is not just a veneer of change.

02:55Now after some sleep, I will be holding this new Government to account.

03:00Delivering on the commitment to the British people and working for all voters in this wonderful constituency.
