00:17Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber are about to embark on a new chapter in their lives

00:22— parenthood.

00:24But before the two reach the milestone, AXS Hollywood is taking a look back at their love

00:28story.

00:30Justin and Hailey's relationship was actually decades in the making.

00:34The two first met when they were kids in 2009.

00:37The roadskin founder's dad, Stephen Baldwin, introduced them at a Today show taping when

00:41Hailey was a preteen and Justin was a teenager.

00:44I was on an early morning show and she did not want to be there.

00:50For the most young girls back in the day, it was like, we want to see Justin Bieber

00:55tight, let's go.

00:57She was like, got there, her eyes were closed, she was like, nice to meet you.

01:01She didn't care at all.

01:02I think she grew up, her dad was kind of in the industry, I think she was a little jaded

01:07at the time.

01:08I'll blame it on her jadedness.

01:11But sparks didn't fly until they got older.

01:13The two were first romantically linked in 2014 after they were spotted out together

01:17multiple times, but at the Exodus premiere in December of that year, Hailey shut down

01:22rumors that the two were dating, telling E! News that they were quote, good friends.

01:27I've known him since I was young, since I was like 13, and we've just been good friends

01:31over the years.

01:32We have just stayed close and there's nothing more to it than that.

01:36Flash forward a year, the two ignite dating rumors once more after Justin shared a picture

01:40of him and Hailey together reportedly on vacation.

01:43He then talked about their romance during his February 2016 GQ interview, saying the

01:48model is someone I really love, adding that they quote, spend a lot of time together.

01:53But he admitted he was hesitant to fully commit at the time because he was worried

01:57of hurting Hailey, saying quote,

01:59What if Hailey ends up being the girl I'm going to marry, right?

02:02If I rush into anything, if I damage her, then it's always going to be damaged, he said

02:06at the time.

02:08Hailey then gave some more insight into their relationship while talking to E! News that

02:12same month, saying,

02:13We are not an exclusive couple.

02:15He's about to go on tour.

02:17Relationships at this age are really complicated, but I don't like to really talk about it because

02:21it's between me and him.

02:24Turns out 2016 was a rough year for the two.

02:27The pair abruptly called it quits, and when looking back at their relationship in an interview

02:31with Vogue in 2019, Hailey said the breakup was messy.

02:35Quote,

02:36Negative things happen that we still need to talk about and work through.

02:39Fizzled would not be the right word.

02:41It was more like a very dramatic excommunication.

02:45There was a period where if I walked into a room, he would walk out.

02:49Their breakup didn't last long.

02:51In 2018, the two reconnected at a church conference, and Hailey told Elle magazine in 2020 that

02:56Justin knew they couldn't just be friends.

02:59Quote,

03:00We ended up being at this church conference together in Miami, and it was the first time

03:03we'd seen each other in a while.

03:05I remember we were hanging out, and I was like, listen, I'm really, really happy for

03:09us to be friends again.

03:10I want us to always be cool and friends.

03:12And he was like, yeah, here's the thing.

03:14We're not going to be friends.

03:16And I was like, oh, is that so?

03:18I think we were both a little unsure about what was going on in the very beginning.

03:22It was familiar territory.

03:23But when a lot of time goes by, it's like getting to know a new person.

03:27She said, noting she was impressed by how mature he was.

03:30Quote,

03:31He had grown up so much, I was actually shocked.

03:34I think I had grown up a lot, too.

03:36He was somebody I'd always cared about so deeply and loved very deeply.

03:39Obviously, it took work and getting past things between the two of us, but it was all very

03:44worth it.

03:45A few weeks after their reunion, the two got engaged.

03:49Justin revealed the happy news on his Instagram in July 2018, writing in part of the time,

03:54quote,

03:55My heart is completely and fully yours, and I will always put you first.

03:59You are the love of my life, Hailey Baldwin, and I wouldn't want to spend it with anybody

04:03else.

04:04You make me so much better, and we complement each other so well.

04:07Can't wait for the best season of life yet.

04:10And that season came fast.

04:12After the 2018 Emmy Awards, Hailey's uncle, Alec Baldwin, revealed to Access Hollywood's

04:16Kit Hoover and Scott Evans that the two had already tied the knot.

04:20How wild does a Baldwin wedding get?

04:23Well, they went off and got married, and I don't know what the deal is because, I mean,

04:28we text Hailey every now and then.

04:30We met him one time.

04:31But as I said, you know, when you get married, you know, I mean, I think it works best if

04:36you can really be together.

04:38It was later confirmed that the two got married in a civil ceremony in New York City in September.

04:44For Justin's Season's documentary that was released in 2020, Hailey opened up about how

04:48quickly the two said, I do, admitting she went to her parents for advice.

04:52I remember calling my parents when we decided to get married, and I said, this is the time

05:00I need you to stop me from doing something crazy if you think this is a bad idea.

05:08Ah!

05:09Bad girl.

05:10Bad girls are not my problem.

05:13Because in my heart, I knew that it's what I wanted to do, but I was like, just tell

05:16me right now if you think, OK, whoa, whoa, just relax and take a breath and think about

05:21this and see how you feel in like 24 hours or a week or something.

05:24And they were like, honestly, we think that this is meant to be for you, and we know that

05:30this is what you want, so we trust you.

05:35That was so close.

05:37And I was like, all right.

05:40A few months after their civil ceremony in February 2019, the newlyweds posed for the

05:44cover of Vogue and candidly opened up about married life with Hailey admitting it wasn't

05:49always easy.

05:50Quote, I want people to know that we're coming from a really genuine place, but we're two

05:54young people who are learning as we go.

05:56I'm not going to sit here and lie and say it's all magical fantasy.

06:00It's always going to be hard.

06:01It's a choice.

06:02You don't feel it every single day.

06:04You don't wake up every day saying, I'm absolutely so in love and you are perfect.

06:08That's not what being married is, Hailey said, adding that there's something beautiful about

06:12it anyway, that wanting to fight for something, commit to building with someone.

06:16We're really young and that's a scary aspect.

06:18We're going to change a lot, but we're committed to growing together and supporting each other

06:22in those changes.

06:24That's how I look at it.

06:25At the end of the day, too, he's my best friend and I never get sick of him.

06:282019 was an exciting year for the couple.

06:31The two exchanged vows again on September 30th in South Carolina.

06:35According to People, 150 guests were in attendance, including famous friends Kendall Jenner, Jaden

06:39Smith and Usher.

06:41The two have been very open with fans about their marriage, giving a sneak peek into their

06:45relationship in an episode of Justin's Seasons docuseries.

06:50Being able to spend my life with someone and know that there's always that person to go

06:54back to and always get to share every moment with and get to share my life with in moments

07:01and it just makes it so much more rewarding, I guess.

07:07Just the idea of stability is something that I really never had growing up and it's something

07:14that I've always really wanted.

07:17But the marriage is still hard work, and in 2022, Justin also opened up on The Ebro Show

07:23about how he struggled in those early years.

07:26Quote,

07:27I remember when I first got married, I had a little bit of an emotional breakdown because

07:31I thought marriage was going to fix all my problems and it didn't.

07:35It just kind of was a reflection of like, you're a bit of a hypocrite man, like you

07:39want your wife to do something that you're not going to do.

07:42And it's like, I mean, it's hard sometimes to look in the mirror and really have to realize,

07:47man, maybe you're not the person that you necessarily thought that you were.

07:51And you know, that's just the result of trauma and life circumstances, he said.

07:57Justin and Hailey got past the ups and downs and have continued to support each other throughout

08:01their marriage, especially in 2022 when they both experienced health scares.

08:06Justin supported Hailey when she was rushed to the hospital after she experienced a small

08:10blood clot in her brain in 2022.

08:13She opened up about that rough time in a video she shared to her YouTube channel explaining

08:17it was quote, the scariest moment of my life.

08:21Really it's like having a mini stroke.

08:24It definitely feels like having a stroke, except my body was able to resolve it pretty

08:30quickly and then I didn't have any more issues for the whole rest of the day and the whole

08:35rest of the time that I was in the hospital.

08:37But you know, my scans did show that I had a lack of oxygen to a certain part of my brain

08:42for a certain amount of time.

08:44Still definitely really, really scary.

08:46After doing some more tests, Hailey revealed she was diagnosed with a grade five PFO, which

08:51is a small hole that can exist in the heart.

08:54According to Penn Medicine, this hole exists in everyone before they are born, but it usually

08:58closes after birth.

09:00My blood clot actually escaped through the flap or the hole in my heart and it traveled

09:08to my brain and that is why I suffered a TIA.

09:11So the recommendation from my doctors at UCLA was to have a procedure done called a PFO closure,

09:17which is when they go through your groin, through the femoral vein in your groin and

09:22they travel up to the heart and they put this small little button.

09:26It looks like a little button that buttons close the flap in the heart and then eventually

09:32your heart tissue grows back over the closure device and that's it.

09:38And then you have it forever and you continue on with normal life.

09:43So I recently got the PFO closure done and it went very smoothly.

09:51Hailey was also there for her husband when he was diagnosed with Ramsey-Hunt syndrome

09:54in 2022.

09:56This is pretty serious as you can see.

10:00The Peaches singer revealed his diagnosis in a video shared on his Instagram in June

10:042022.

10:06According to the Mayo Clinic, Ramsey-Hunt syndrome happens when a shingles outbreak

10:09affects the facial nerve near one of your ears.

10:13Some symptoms from this are shingles rash, facial paralysis, and hearing loss in the

10:17affected ear.

10:18As you can see this eye is not blinking, I can't smile on this side of my face, this

10:26nostril will not move.

10:29So there's full paralysis in this side of my face.

10:33Since then the pair's health has seemingly gotten better but they've had to fight off

10:37their fair share of split rumors.

10:40Most recently in 2024, in April Hailey seemingly shut down speculation about her marriage.

10:46The roadskin founder shared a selfie on her Instagram story flashing her engagement ring

10:50and wedding band as she sipped on some coffee.

10:53The 27-year-old then shared a loved up photo of Justin shirtless in bed as he cuddled with

10:57their dog.

10:59Hailey's post came amid rumors that she and Justin were on the rocks but a source told

11:03People Magazine that the pair was quote, doing really well.

11:06There's no divorce and no truth to that whatsoever, the insider told the outlet.

11:10They are very, very happy.

11:12And Marge Hailey squashed rumors surrounding her personal life on her Instagram story writing

11:16at the time, quote, just FYI, the stories and constant blind items I see on TikTok are

11:22100% of the time wrong, made out of thin air, come from the land of delusion.

11:27So I know it may be fun feeding into these stories, but just so you know, they're always

11:30false.

11:31Kisses, sorry to spoil it.

11:34While the road founder didn't go into specifics, her post came a week after her dad, Stephen

11:39Baldwin, made headlines for social posts about her and Justin.

11:42He reposted a message from faith-based YouTuber Victor Marks, who asked for prayers for the

11:47couple, writing in part per page six, Christians, please, when you think of Justin and Hailey,

11:52take a moment to offer a little prayer for them to have wisdom, protection and to draw

11:56closer to the Lord.

11:58Neither Victor nor Stephen shared a reason for the prayer request, but it may have been

12:03for a more positive reason than fans realized.

12:06Hailey and Justin went on to reveal on Instagram that they are expecting their first child.

12:11The pair shared the exciting news on May 9th with dreamy pics and video taken during their

12:15vow renewal ceremony in Hawaii.

12:18The model's rep confirmed to NBC News that she was six months along as of the announcement.

12:24Hailey has since shared insight into her experience as a soon to be first time mom, telling fans

12:28that her cravings include egg salad on top of a pickle with hot sauce.
