00:00After the series of recent elections, a new generation of left-wing leaders has emerged,

00:05four key figures shaping the left's future in France.

00:09According to recent polls, Raphael Glucksmann is the most popular figure.

00:13Leading a successful left-wing campaign at the EU elections,

00:16he celebrated once again on Sunday.

00:20I'd like to thank the citizens of France who believed in this alliance,

00:23an effort to block a threat they considered existential to our country.

00:27The National Secretary of the Green Party, Marine Tendelier,

00:31has grown in popularity and is now considered a symbol for the faction's future.

00:35Originally from a Le Pen stronghold,

00:37she's accustomed to confrontations with the far right.

00:41Tonight, social justice has won.

00:44Tonight, environmental justice has won.

00:47And tonight, the people have won.

00:52And it's only just begun.

00:54Although François Ruffin broke with France Unbowed

00:57after describing leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon as a ball and chain,

01:01his campaign was unhindered, making up for lost ground

01:04after losing to the far right in the first round of voting.

01:10A month ago, the far right was close to a majority at 44%.

01:15The left was far behind at 20 points.

01:17And in four weeks, we've come back from the brink.

01:20Manuel Bompard was already elected in round one with an impressive 67%.

01:26Unlike the other politicians, Bompard remains loyal to Jean-Luc Mélenchon,

01:30granting him unspoken authority to outline the priorities of the new Popular Front.

01:36The measures in our manifesto, like raising the minimum wage,

01:40freezing prices on basic necessities, and repealing the pension reform,

01:44are policies we fully intend to implement.

01:46After a historic victory in the second round,

01:49the left-wing alliance say they intend to govern,

01:51even in the absence of an absolute majority.

01:54The question remains as to which political figure will take the reins.
