00:00So, Hichki was released and done very well. Then my writer friend, Vipul Mehta, who has
00:13written this film, he had made a Gujarati play on it, titled Maharaj, on Saurabh Shah's
00:20book. So, on that we took the rights of the book and convinced Vipul to let me make this
00:29film. So, this film was made and written. Another great stage playwright, Sneha Desai,
00:38was also brought along. So, Sneha and I and Vipul worked together on the script. After
00:44working on the script, whatever we felt was objectionable in the book, we decided not
00:49to include it in our film. We decided not to include anything objectionable in the case.
00:54So, the first script was of 160 pages. It was very long because there was a lot of material
00:59in it. And then, slowly, it came to a point. But this is how the script was made. Then
01:04we told it to Aditya Chopra. Aditya Chopra liked it and told him to make it.
01:14There is no one greater than them. If your writer is not good, if your written word
01:21is not good, you will take it to the next level. So, writing is the foundation and editing
01:27is the foundation. Your editor, my editor, Shweta Venkat Mathew, and my writers are
01:35the pillars of the film. If the writing is good, then the director can either ruin the
01:42writing or make it good. But the writing should be good first.
