00:00About 7300 buses are running in Delhi, of which about 40 lakh passengers travel daily.
00:08In this, if we talk about electric buses, there are only 1650 electric buses in Delhi.
00:15On 17th January 2022, the first electric bus was brought to Delhi by the Delhi government.
00:21Since then, 1650 electric buses have been included in Delhi's fleet.
00:27The Delhi government has set a target that by 2025, the total number of buses in Delhi will be 10,480,
00:38of which 80% will be electric, i.e. more than 8,000 buses.
00:42But now, it has been almost two and a half years, only 1650 electric buses have been able to come to Delhi.
00:49Right now, there are not enough buses.
00:52The buses that are running, apart from the electric buses, on Delhi's roads, are CNG buses,
00:59and more than 90% of them have become over-aged, due to which they break down at various places,
01:06i.e. they get damaged, which not only troubles the passengers, but also the walkers and pedestrians.
01:14Recently, the Delhi Prime Minister, Kailash Gahlot, has said that more electric buses will be included in Delhi's fleet soon,
01:24which will give comfort to the passengers.
01:26On the other hand, there are depots in Delhi.
01:29To operate and charge electric buses, the depots have to be electrified.
01:35There are a total of 62 depots in Delhi.
01:38Of these, only 16 have been electrified.
01:42To electrify four more depots, a transport department tender has also been launched.
